Guest guest
Helen2373, May I ask you some questions: When you go to the clinic, where do you stay? Is it possible to settle really close to it? My son is GFCFSF, so we need to rent an apartment. Is it possible over there? I am not driving. Is it possible to live very close, does the location have supermarkets, and how is the public transport in the area? What does the Dr. R do for antiviral treatment? Thanks in advance, To: "mb12 valtrex " <mb12 valtrex >Sent: Thu, August 12, 2010 4:15:45 PMSubject: Re: Re: Help finding a DAN near Atlanta that is familiar with Valtrex.. Guest guest
Wish I had knows, we were down there last week for an appt with him. Would have loved to have met you!! Does he have a hard chamber or just soft? I saw soft through the opened door and when I peeked in some lady ran over and shut the door. Kerrie Hi , we are staying in melbourne for the month of August, down here right now and we are pts of Rossignol's. We are here to do hbot. I'd be happy to talk with you about Melbourne. They are 2 bedroom apts with full kitchens and they have an awesome waterpark and playground area. We did this mostly because we take our other kids and it gives them a fun reason to be good sitting through the dr visit. And once we stayed at a hotel on the beach bc my husband was randomly at a conference there. it was only a microwave and a fridge though, so the other would be better and that wasnt walking distance. The office is actually in a strip mall but there are not too many shops as I remember. There is an apartment complex-or homes, not certain, it is gated-right next to him. I know nothing about the public transportation, but I do know hat people go and stay there.Your best bet is to call the office. His staff his wonderful and very helpful, and probably has a list of places to stay, and would be able to answer the questions around public transportation...I am sorry I am not more helpful!> >>> >> As my previous posts state, I am having trouble with getting the correct > >>scripts from my current doctor. Guest guest
Kerrie, what a shame, I would have liked to have met you too! He has 3 hard chambers, which is what we are doing, at 1.5 ata. We dive twice a day. Also doing some IV's while we are here as they are next to impossible to do in Boston. We rented a great little apt on the beach, way out on A1A. It's really been lovely, a pod of dolphins swam in front of our house, there are sea turtles, we saw a manatee - lots to keep my nt daughter occupied if I can get her out of the ocean. My asd son is doing 'ok', not a fan of the beach, homesick for his routines at home, missing school and teachers and with a lot left for us to figure out about why he is so sad, so lethargic, so worried all the time. Heartbreaking to see in a 5 yr old. So we persevere...Alison M Re: Re: ICDRC - questions Wish I had knows, we were down there last week for an appt with him. Would have loved to have met you!! Guest guest
Thanks, Pamela. What is the distance between the place and the ICDRCA clinic? What transportation do people use? Guest guest
Hi , Alison here staying in melbourne. I think that Residence Inn is on Babcock st and to my mind that would be at least a two mile walk. Public transportation is not something I would rely on here. I have not seen one taxi since we've been here and they do have a sporadic bus system but the nurses at ICDRC said it really wasn't functional. We drove our car down from Boston because we looked extensively into renting a car and could not after a ton of research find a rate lower than $700 for a month (I'm talking every kind of coupon, discount, economy car). My asd son flew with his dad. he could not do 3 days in a car. We were also able to bring our 12 yr old blind, farty mutt with us in the car. Perhaps you could ask at ICDRC if they know of housing that is accessible to the clinic either by some kind of shuttle bus from a hotel or within walking distance. They are pretty terrific and they get asked all sorts of questions. I've given them some crazy ones since I've been here and they always come through. We chose to rent through VRBO or HomeAway (can't remember which one we went with) so we could take a small place on the beach on A1A. Rental prices are pretty cheap here, particularly off season as the housing market is in really bad shape. The plus side, we are in a heavenly spot, the only down side-we have a good 35 minute trip to the clinic which we are doing 2x per day for 2 hbot dives. By being here for one month in August we are trying to accomplish a bunch of stuff at the same time; vaca for family (first in 4 yrs), yearly in person visit with Rossignol (doing 2 in persons), 40 hard chamber hbot dives, 4 IV chelations, a trial of IV prednisone, husband got to meet and participate in treatment with DAN as mom has been running the bio med show for a while, would have had to do 1 more month of day camp or activities for nt 9 yr old (ca-ching) and structured play/therapy/learning for asd son. Hope that's not way more info than you want. We love it here, everyone is so nice!Alison M Re: Re: Help finding a DAN near Atlanta that is familiar with Valtrex.. Where in Florida is he located? Guest guest
It's about 15 minutes via car. I'm not sure about public transportation down there. I think most families have a car while visiting.
