Way to go Cristie and Krissie, you are a brave people. I applaud you for all you are doing. I didn't know that you were in Alberta Cristie! I would have loved to go there for the doc band but way too hard to manage. I have been on line with a couple of people from the Calgary office, I sent them many emails of my daughter Angelina. Who did you see? I have spoken to who has lots of knowledge about plagio, she is the clinical resourse nurse and Judy Mair the OT.

I was called by human resources in charge of the Calgary Health Region. They said that nurses are actually supposed to be giving out information about plagiocephaly at the first home visit (mine never did) and are supposed to sit and talk to the parents about repositioning and tummy time, as well as limiting car and swing use to avoid a flattened head (once again, mine never did). She said she would be talking to every home nurse in the clinics as well as the post-partum department of the hospitals in Calgary and lecturing them about how important it is to stress prevention of plagiocephaly, as well as ordering new flyers to be handed out with the postpartum package and in the clinics. She asked if there was anything else I could think of that could help spread the awareness, and I couldn't really think of anything else (if you guys have any ideas on what else would be helpful that hospitals can do?) but I do have her phone number and can contact her whenever I think of something else.I think I'll start carrying around pamphlets more often, but on top of that (I'm super super shy, and can't think of a proper way to say "Beautiful baby! Flat head.." *grins* and I have anxiety over talking to people I don't know) I'll print out a general letter for whoever I'm giving the pamphlets too, saying that the reason I gave them this pamphlet is because I was starting to notice it slightly in their child, and I wished someone would have came up and did the same to me when Trey was young enough so I could have caught it earlier, just a nicely written letter that will let them know I'm not just being a dolt, that I'm trying to help.> > > I've been on busses and whatnot and have seen mothers come on with> > young babies and I start to notice their head shapes a lot more since> > starting to go through this with Treyton. Judy is who I'm seeing :) She's great, very friendly and good with my

son, and she actually sat and listened to and addressed all my

concerns that the initial pediatrician never bothered about. I'm

super glad I live in this city, not only do we have a clinic nearby

but the people from the clinic are just fabulous.

I really like Judy as well. Although I have never met her, we have been emailing back and forth for a couple of months now. I have yet to reply to her last email and tell her that we have decided to go ahead with the helmet. I am sure that she will be happy to hear that she will not be getting loads of photos weekly of my daughter's head!!LOL. How did Trey measure? Was he mild or moderate? Yes, you are extremely fortunate to live there and have the facility so close by - lets just hope this local helmet does the trick. When do you get yours?

P.S. Say hi to Judy from and Angelina Blacklaws.
