Guest guest
We are over a month into Valtrex and are seeing wonderful gains. DS went through a regression in the beginning complete with rashes, aggression, pulling his brother hair any time he even got near him, crying etc. We almost stopped it b/c it was just so horrible. After 3 weeks DS started using longer more complex sentences (he went from 5 word sentences to an 18 word sentence!) He is using spontaneous speech all the time now. He is way more social, better eye contact and is actually LOOKING and watching other kids and people around him. He used to just remove himself and avoid even looking at what other kids were doing. Now hes smiling at them and talking to them (even if its in his repetitive language, he likes to ask " whats this? " even when he knows what it is.) He is having the beginnings of conversation with verbal 2-3 exchanges. All his therapists say that his processing, receptive language and multitasking is much faster. Anyway, I know antivirals needs to be taken for a while, but we would like to consider chelation next. DS has mercury, lead and arsenic and we've never gotten around to treating it. Do you think it may be too much to do chelation at the same time as anti-virals? I don't want to stop when things are so good now. But we are getting a glimmer of something wonderful and it makes me hungry for more. He still has so much verbal stimming, repetitions, and makes loud noises and humming. Any advice would help. Thanks! Shiri
