After basal thumb replacement surgery 2 weeks ago, my doc gave me

oxycontin 10 mg. And oxycodone for break through pain, I used them the

first two days and developed insomnia so I quit the oxycontin, After a

few more days, I stopped the oxycodone and switched to extra strength

tylenol. Yesterday, aweek after the surgery, I overused my hand (even

though I'm in a rigid cast) and was in a lot of pain. I took I

oxycontin with no relief (10 mg) after 1/2 hr, took 2 more, after 1/2

took another two. Took a total of 60 mg. Oxycontin and not only did it

not have any effect on pain, it made me so hyper, I was up all night.

The only other drugs that cause me to become hyper are barbiturates.like

phenobarbitol Is this just me? Is this an EDS thing? Is 60 mg of

Oxycontin a low dose?

I am really disappointed. It looks like I'll have to find another pain

killer.
