Guest guest
Hi All, I am also a member of another plagio group but it looks like you guys have more members using doc bands. My son Nicky has a brachy head shape. He's been in a DOC band for a little over a month and while we already see improvement to the flatness, I'm starting to notice that other areas on his head are literally taking the shape of the helmet. Let me clarify, there seems to be a ridge all around the back of his head where the helmet ends. Its almost as though the helmet is too small. Is it possible to outgrow these things? I saw the pics of an ill fitting Starband and Nick's isn't that bad but he does have a large gap on the open end and hole barely fitting his ear on the other side. I'm going to CT tomorrow for an adjustment and plan to raise these concerns but I was wondering if anyone else had their doc band replaced? BTW - we're live in Los Angeles (CT is only about a 30-45 min drive). Anyone else from here?
Guest guest
They can definitely outgrow their bands. Has Nicky had big growth spurts since the casting and while banded? Please let us know what CT says tomorrow. Guest guest
Hi Cristina & welcome to our group: How old is Nicky? Bands are frequently outgrown, esp when the child begins treatment under 6 mos of age & are rapidly growing & headshape is changing. Do you have any pictures of Nicky & his band you could post? Are you going to the Cranial Therapies (I think that's the name!) clinic for his DOCband? I'm happy to hear you have an appt scheduled to be seen tomorrow already. Have you seen his 3D " Head on a stick " /head mold yet? That should help you get a good idea of what his shape was BEFORE DOCband and what it's looking like now. Please let us know how the appt goes, and please add some pics of Nicky if you have any in our PHOTOS section! Guest guest
Thanks Debbie, Angie and anyone else that replied. Nicky is 6 months old and he is by no means a small baby. He is 22 lbs (but doesn't look like it) and 28 1/2 inches long. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of him to download just yet. If he has outgrown his DOC band, I'm guessing that we'll have to pay for a second band? I don't suppose CT has included the cost of a second band before treatment is completed (he's only had it for a month) in the $3733 they charged us. UGH. I'll see what they say tomorrow and let you guys know. Cristina Mommy to Vince 5/2/02 & Nicky 12/10/03 banded 5/20/04 Debbie <dj2kirby@...> wrote: Hi Cristina & welcome to our group:How old is Nicky?
