Guest guest
My high school chemistry teacher used to do a yearly experiment of having kids put nails in bottles of coke, then observe. The nails always disappeared. She was trying to teach us teens to stay off soft drinks, lol. (typed with my 1 glass per day of Diet Coke beside me.) Debi > 5. Guest guest
Water also lowers blood sugar significantly. And rapidly. And is sometimes recommended to help a spike back down. I do partake of diet colas knowing how caustic they are. But lately I've gotten into tea - the black and orange types are known to lower blood sugar. As well as cinnamon. The government is doing a study on cinnamon. Which I doubt the pharma companies appreciate. Since its so cheap. When I remind myself to drink water my bg is always lower. Was told, don't know if its true, that your natural thirst will come back after you rehydrate yourself . Apparently the body relearns to tell you of thirst. Guest guest
Thanks for reminding me of the green tea :-) Which brand do you get? It would be really a good thing to have as a ice tea now That summer is close ...sussie -----Original Message----- From: ERWachter@... Hi , I drink a lot of hot green tea and herbal teas. I don't miss it at all and I was such a coke-a-holic. I give credit to The Lord for that, it sure was beyond my doing. I almost always drink tea when we are out, 1 cup of coffee in the am (because I like hazelnut creamer)and allow my self no more unless it is a special occasion. The only way I can drink water is with a sport top that I can squirt into my mouth. Something about the taste and smell of it, even with lemons. I am not a thirsty diabetic, I don't know why. I guess it will come later. I throw calcium and uric acid kidney stones. I believe I do this to myself with not enough fluids. I am really working hard to fix this, but will not walk around in public with a bottle... of anything! I am also trying to lower my BG with water, so I squirt away! Guest guest
Marilyn, I got a Brita water filtration pitcher for my refrig and I love it! I have always been a big water drinker, but after getting preg the last time I found the water to be too strong on chlorine. The water tastes much better with the pitcher. I'm also picky about which cups I drink from, I have to have certain plastic ones in the house. Debi I am not a thirsty diabetic, I don't know why. I > guess it will come later. The water tastes much better, but the psyhchological thing is still there. I am an avid swimmer, love pools or lakes, but feel like I am drowning whenever I drink water that I can smell. I must be nuts ;-) I can drink iced tea or anything else from a glass, just not water. A straw works but it seems pretty nuts to me. Guest guest
> > Debi, > I use a Brita system at home also. It works reasonably well and has lasted me several years. I am however going to install a couple of under counter filters that will be permenantly placed. This way I will have all my water for drinking and cooking filtered and cleaned. The second unit will go in my bathroom since this is where my wife and I usually take our meds. > > > > __Hi , I never thought of putting one in the bathroom. Good idea. My system has a big " bladder " in a sealed container under the house, and filters under the sink for ease of replacement. It is always full and I can fill pictures with cool, clean water. Our coach is set up in a spot where the water comes from wells. I won't even make coffee with britta water there. We carry gallons of bottled water. I only found it at " Big Lots " a discount/closeout store, and gought all they had, a few cases. I like to mix red grapefruit with raspberry. MMMM I do tend to drink more if we are hiking or it is a real hot day. Marilyn
