Guest guest
Hi guys I have 2 completely seperate questions. For making almond milk, does it make a differece if I use blanched almonds or not? When we first started using nuts in January, I didn't realize how brutal the almond skins would be to my little ones system. We switched over to only blanched, but I have about 3 pounds of whole almonds in the freezer that I would love to use up. My son's favorite food is strawberries. We used to walk to the farmers market every week and he would eat a whole basket of berries while we shopped. I have had to avoid going there since we started the diet because he would cry when he saw them. We finally started giving him peeled raw strawberries a week ago and he is tolerating them fine. He seems to be ok with some of the advanced raw fruits like apples if they are peeled (I am too afraid to try wth the skin) I want to try him on whole berries. If there are seeds in the stool, would that be normal or a reaction? Thanks for any advice you guys have Mother to 3 1/2 Immature digestive system due to in-utero stroke SCD since 10/07 and 20 months SCD tag along
Guest guest
Hi, , I would not advise risking discomfort to use something up. You're lucky it's whole almonds since they can be blanched. Here is one set of directions. I'm sure there are others if you google: http://homecooking.about.com/cs/atozfoodindex/ht/blanch_almonds.htm I don't think I would worry about seeing strawberry seeds as long as the child is not experiencing discomfort, the stool is fairly well formed (no reversal of progress), and behavior does not deteriorate. mom to -12, SCD 4/23/04 Pecanbread Moderator
Guest guest
If you have the patience to process those 3 pounds yourslef, boil some water submerge whole almonds with skins for about 30 seconds, then the skins will pop right off the outides and you will have blanched your own almonds! -------------- Original message -------------- Hi guysI have 2 completely seperate questions.
