Guest guest
I feel much better knowing it's a dentist teaching the class. The whole plastic surgeon thing had me worried. 911:: Instructors/Qualifuications/Powerphone <snip> The Instructor isn't a plastic surgeon, he's a dentist. My apologies. I took the word of two students that told me he was a plastic surgeon.
Guest guest
I prefer an instructor that knows what it means to sit in the dispatch chair. I think dispatching is like parenthood; even though a person may think they know what it is like, they have no clue until they are one! Besides, since when does a Fire Chief/Cop/DENTIST have more credibility that a Dispatcher? Since when do they know more about dispatching - enough to teach a dispatcher how to dispatch - than an experienced dispatcher? Since when do they have the credibility to tell the press how we should operate and when we are in error. They show a total lack of respect for the very profession they make money from by not employing dispatchers to instruct. Then they wave their disrespect like a flag in the air when they publicly judge a dispatcher. Now, they have flip cards for police and fire calls............I guess any dentist can dispatch! Doreen The above is just one of my personal opinions. In a message dated 12/19/2003 12:51:36 PM Central Standard Time, pstc911@... writes: > Hi gang. Looks like I lit a fuse in the offices of PP. Guest guest
In typical fashion, there is plenty of triple time on the holidays so I am partaking from that buffet!! We are having a potluck at the center on Christmas Day, complete with a honey-baked ham and all of the fixins!! Its a nice quiet day (typically) until the domestics start trickling in around 1900 hrs or so.. we'll see what the elevated threat level does to that tradition though... it seems that Al Queida has picked sleepy Rochester Hills as their new HQ, if the citizens are to be believed!! Gotta love Q Public.. Happy Holidays to all from southeastern Michigan!!

Guest guest
Having met both Mr. Larson & Mr. Willet and having experienced Mr. Willet's instruction a couple of times...I have to speak up. What you refer to as infantile was humor...and I think most of us found it so. Randall and are both very professional but they are also human beings with a sense of humor. I know that nothing said here is outside of the possibility of having been encountered any number of times in the department where I work. Policemen and Firemen tend to have rather infantile senses of humor themselves, and it becomes an acquired taste and also rubs off on those having close interaction with them. The products and services offered by both Mr. Larson and Mr. Willet and their respective organizations are top notch as are the men themselves. Freida La Vergne, TN > Better than a proctologist??? Guest guest
Normally, (be quiet Kim) I just sit back and read all of the console emails and learn from them, but I do have to speak out on this. 1. Willet is a great instructor. I have been in several of his classes, and had him come to Chattanooga for what I consider is best class, " School Violence, Lessons Learned " . Not only have I had the chance to attend his classes, but was host to him while he was here. He is a great guy and would never belittle any other instructors. He might critique one, though. 2. The instructor from Powerphone that they are talking about being a dentist is Dr. Gene Iveno from Suffolk County New York. He is a dentist, but a forsenic one for the Suffolk County Medical Examiners Office. He is also a diver. He was one of the many persons involved in the recovery and identification of the persons from TWA flight 800 that crashed several years ago into Long Island Sound. He teaches the Stress Management Class for Powerphone. It was a great class. and he was knowledgeable about his topic. I guess being a dentist and a diver, you would know about stress. 3. Powerphone is a good company as far as some of the classes that they put out. but of course, a class is only as good as the instructor and what you get out of the class when you attend. As some of my collegues do when it comes to these classes is just to go " oh hum .. just another way to get out of work and do nothing. " But for the most of us, I enjoy the opportunity to get out and attend classes to get new instruction, new ideas on how to do at times is a stressful, highly demanding profession. I am not tyring to get on the soapbox, but just merely pointing out a few things. Riggs
