Guest guest
Hi Robin! I don't know of anyone who has gone to " The Brace Shop " in Cincinnati, but in the past, there have been group members from near that area, so perhaps they did evaluate this option and can provide some feedback. I am not far from there, here in Lexington, KY, and am fairly familiar with choices within driving distance of our general area. I did not know of The Brace Shop in Cinci providing bands or helmets, but I am sure with Kaitlyn being 12 months old you are looking for an active band. Do you know what brand of band they provide at the Brace Shop? I found an industry press release from a couple of months ago saying that Hanger had acquired The Brace Shop. I am wondering if that means that the Brace Shop now offers the Hanger Cranial Band (active) or will order and treat with Orthomerica's Starband (active.) It may be that the orthos there are new to these two types of bands, I don't know, but do you have an idea of their training and/or experience there? Hanger Acquires The Brace Shop P & O Centers (March 15, 2004) Hanger Orthopedic Group Inc., Bethesda, land, has acquired The Brace Shop Prosthetic Orthotic Centers Inc., with four full-time offices in Cincinnati, Fairfield, Montgomery, and , Ohio, Hanger announced March 15. http://www.oandp.com/edge/issues/articles/NEWS_2004-03-15_03.asp There is a Hanger facility in Louisville, KY offering the Hanger Cranial Band, and a current group member is going there. How far are you from Cranial Tech in Cleveland? Will that be an option for you to consider as well? I am interested in what you find about about this option, since we have a dearth of choices here in the Kentuckiana area... I would like to add any new learnings about facilities to the Helmet/Band Database if you find anything out. Take care, Christie (Mom to Repo'd Remy) > Does anyone here happen to have experience with the othotic office > called The Brace Shop in Cincinnati, Ohio? Guest guest
Hi Christie, The Brace shop does do the castings and sends the mold to Orthoamerica in Oralando, Florida to be fabricated into the active STARband. Though I do not know the amount of training and/or experience they have. I will find out though and let you know..I can call and get some info. on that in the morning for sure.( I should have done that already) Thank you for the info.on Hanger aquiring The Brace Shop, also,I didnt know that, of course I havent heard of Hanger Cranial Band either ...I will have to do some more research. As far as Cranial Tech in Cleveland..it is definitly an option for us...actually I have already set an appointment up there for July 3rd....for a just incase senario that things don't work out here close to home or doctor here doesn't want to prescribe the band...or that in case I just feel DOCband is a better choice than STARband...I am still so debating with myself over that one also...I figure if Dr.Gordon does the prescription this 28th of June....if I feel comfortable with The Brace Shops orthotist and his experience I may just go for casting there July 1st...but if I don't feel comfortable I am going to Cleveland July 3rd for sure. I don't know...do I seem paranoid having all these appointments for " just in-case " senario's? thanks again for the info.
