This is fantastic, Seth! Good for you! I'm sure she really didn't think you were joking, but it's a lot for anyone to take in. Sometimes we laugh when we really don't know what to do about something. Let's face it, it's a "rare" thing we've all got here, and most people have never heard of it. You often get the feeling people think you must be exaggerating, or making it up! Even our doctors sometimes look at us as if we're crazy.

Now I want you to tell ALL your other friends. Ha!

Possibly having her sit down at computer and go to ICUS site with you would let her see that you're not an exclusivity when it comes to CU. There are people from 2 to 92 with this thing AND that it's not some type of taboo/contagious thing. As many have stated already-women tend to have a tendancy to be more emotional and compassionate than to just turn someone away because of an affliction and have more of a conscience and awareness of feelings. I hope we have built up your courage and you find a true friend in her.
