Jay,

When I started in this new part of my life my blood sugar was at

404. The first time I hit 100 I got the shakes. Basically my body was

not happy about the lack of sugar. Well that lasted about a day and it

has not happened since. I have had a couple of low readings ( in the

60's) but no shakes. I think it took me about a month of displaying

symptoms prior to my wife telling me to go see a Dr. I did not feel ill

or bad prior to going to see the Dr, I just had to go to the bathroom a

bunch.

Thanks for the reassurance. My vision was perfect up until Feb or so,

then the world started getting blurry. I thought I was tired (apnea) and

was working too hard. :-) Well, I was working hard! I can handle weeks

of blurry vision, knowing it will get better.

Today is my first day of a 104 reading, and that was after swimming 40

lengths at the Y. I was some shaky, though, at that reading which was

before dinner. If 104 is a goal then why did I feel hypoglycemic, I

wonder?

I had a physical in Oct and no signs of diabetes were found. Is it

possible I got it so quickly thereafter, or could I have been progressing

to this day for a long time?

thanks,

Re: more questions for a newbie

Hi,

Same here, my sight went fuzzy for a couple of weeks. It was not

fun since I had been blessed with excellent vision. But things did

return to normal, so the reading glasses from Costco sit unused.

Have fun

Thanks, Jeannie, for the reassurance. Months, hmm? I just bought a

pair

of 2.75 drustore glasses and can finally read again! I will be

patient...

maybe.

Jay

Jay, you sound like me last year. I could hardly operate the computer.

You
can adjust the size of the lettering, so I had everything at biggest

and

I
I bought those cheap drugstore
glasses to read up close....every prescription, as my vision kept

changing.
But I loved that, for the first time since I was a kid, I could see far

away
without the use of glasses. It was great watching TV with no

glasses.

Everybody reassured me that my eyes would return to normal in time, but

I
must admit I was scared. It's frightening when your eyes don't

work.
Eventually, they did, so I'm now wearing my glasses again and

everything's
normal. No more TV or
reading clocks, etc. without glasses. But please try not to

worry...they
WILL get back to normal. I can't remember how long it took, exactly.

Maybe
a couple of months. But it seems like an eternity when you can't

see.

Love,
40 lengths ? I'm jealous. I bet I couldn't do 3.

And thats with exercising all the time here at home.

I have so many pairs of reading glasses. One in every room, purse, glove box,

desk drawer. All different strengths. I get them for a buck at the dollar

store. Now that I have been under control for a year I'm ready for a new eye

exam and glasses. Only trouble is : they won't give me 15 spare pairs :)

Congrats on the 104. I remember when that felt really strange . You might

carry a quickie carb with you just in case you swim yourself down to 85 until

you get used to it .
