Welcome to the group! I'm glad Abbey is taking well to her band,

aside from the sweating issue. What type of band is it and where

did you get it? If that red doesn't go away w/in the hour or looks

bumpy it could be a heat rash and need some cream. Her head should

adjust to the helmet and the sweating will decrease, but in the

meantime I'd dress her very light, like in a onesie or something

similar. It is very common for babies to go itch crazy when you

take the band off too. The whispers and stares do get easier too.

I try to remember that it's human nature to do a double take when

you see something out of the ordinary, and kids staring don't bother

me b/c they don't know any better (young kids). You can explain it

to kids easily by comparing it to braces for teeth. Some people are

downright rude though. I don't even notice most of them time or

will see someone staring and will wonder why, having completely

forgotten Hannah wears a helmet. It does help to decorate the band,

and I found having her name on it is a good icebreaker for people to

talk to us. Hannah has always enjoyed the extra attention. We love

pics here, so feel free to post pics of Abbey!

Hi there,

Welcome to the group! I want to second what mentioned

regarding the redness/heat rash. I know all about the heat and

humidity living in Atlanta.

Is the band white or decorated? If it is white, decorate it cute.

You'll be surprised at all the positive comments you'll get and Abbey

will LOVE all the attention.

Hi there and welcome to our group.

Glad to hear that Abbey aside the sweating is doing well in her

band. What type is it? Do the red sploches disapear within an hr?

Willow my daughter was sweating alot at first as well. What I did

to help her out is take the band off several times a day for just a

few minutes to let her head dry and kind of wipe the band dry as

well. Let us know how it goes, and if it doesn't go away maybe you

want to call the ortho.

Hi There.

I am sure it is just a heat rash like mentioned. You might

want to take the band off periodically to let her forehead dry

completely. That might help too, along with the cream.

Stares and comments.............you'll get used to them. After

awhile I got really good at ignoring them.

Keep us posted on Abbey's progress.
