Guest guest
Hi Everyone.... Oh Mike... how funny... that's what happens when you don't work with mother nature. It would help those people to put out stuff for the ground hogs nests. Our critters out here do the same thing. So I put out straw, shreded blanket material and stuffing out of old pillows. I attract them to that area by placing food on top of the bedding material but they seem to know the bedding will be there every year now. I would love to see them come out and do there thing. They are so cute. Yesterday, while in my shed, I noticed a full box of copper fittings was knocked down and scattered all over. The darn pack rat has the top of his nest loaded with all these fittings. If it shines, they go after it. Today is still very cold and they say snow is on it's way. UGH! It's been raining all day long.... April showers bring May flowers... :~) With the rain today I'm sure the wild grass will grow like mad. In a couple of days, weather permitting and if the sun shines, it will be Round-Up time. I got flu like symptoms last night and just feel punky today. But, like always, I'll get through this also. Sue, how the heck are you doing? Good to hear from you. I think we lost Teddi... she's been pretty quiet. Take care everyone Vicki

Guest guest
Hi, , Vicki, and all of you, I'm feeling much better these days. The plasma exchange seems to have done the trick and turned the tide to the better. I still have the pain around my heart, but it is much better. I'll just have to live with that pain. Docs tell me there's a scar all the way around the heart and inflamation gets into all the tissues and linings in my chest. The good news is that for now it inflamation activity has stopped and there is no evidence of the fibrosing inside my lungs. The plasma exchange helped the weakness in my muscles almost immediately. I'm up and out of my wheelchair again except when I go out to the store or something. Even then, it is my heart that causes me to need a chair. It also helped the redness and rashes. I still get very red whenever I get too tired, and I'm staying out of this Alabama sun. Thanks to all of you who answered my questions about rashes and DM. My doc says he has never ruled out DM instead of PM, but is not convinced that the rashes are DM. He admits that there is a problem with my skin that definitely is autoimmune, but thinks that eventually I'll test positive for lupus. He also says that much, if not all of the rash is from Behcets. But, the Behcets lesions are from a vasculitis, don't feel hot to the touch, and are not caused by the sun. I have lesions like that when I'm very sick. Those awful lesions come in places that the sun never touches. But, I also have redness and rashes like Mike, Fern and Cari describe and I am soooooo photosensitive. But, right now my skin looks pretty good. There is definitely a connection to my autoimmune system and the rashes and the plasma exchange has again worked wonders. I have asked my doc to put me on some sort of maintenance plan. He has really stuck his neck out to try this treatment for me. , I hope that your new doc is willing to work with you and is simpathetic. I tried for years to find a doctor that knew what was going on with me, and finally found one that is willing to do whatever it takes to keep me going, even when he's not positive of the total dx. Cari, I'm so glad that feels better. I worked for years with children and have several of my own (and Grands). His doc is right when he says that will limit himself if his hip hurts. Your an amazing mother to devote so much of your time to his care. He's a lucky boy! I don't post much, but I try to keep up with all of your letters. This group means a lot to me. I hope that you all have lots of energy and are pain free today and that all of you that have been in a flair get better. Hugs, Sue
Guest guest
Hi Sue, It's really good to hear from you and to know that you're feeling a lot better :-) I was wondering.......do you think the reason that your plasma exchange treatments are helpful is because they rid the body (at least temporarily) of antigens, or "bugs?" Would your doctor entertain the idea of putting you on the antibiotic treatment? Hoping you have a nice Alabama day! Connie
Guest guest
Hi Connie, Yes, the treatment seems to rid my body of antigens. I have to rebuild an immune system after each treatment. Antigens, good and bad, are carried in the plasma and this treatment seems to rid my blood of the antigens that are attacking my body. I've asked my doc about the antibiotic treatment and he doesn't want to use it. Sue
Guest guest
Connie, I'm sure you are right, because so many things are going on. Sue
Guest guest
I wonder why? Is it because you have so many other things going on? (Thanks for answering all of our questions.)
