Guest guest
Hi there... I'm sure you know this already..... doctors put people " under " all the time. Try not to worry. The IV needle will only sting for 1/1000 of a second. Everything will by okay. Good Luck! Randy > Hi all, > I'm having my wisdom teeth out tomorrow and I'm freaking out! Guest guest
Thanks Randy...I'm still scared but I've got to do it! Guest guest
Didn't mean to sound insensitive. It's actually nice to fall asleep and wake up when the surgery is done. Best Wishes!! Guest guest
--Well, not to pat myself on the back or anything but I had all four wisdoms out with novicaine and laughing gas. Mine were simple extractions though. In any event, don't worry about the anesthesia. You will be fine. I had surgery on May 14 and that was my biggest fear, but now that I have been through it, it was the easiest part. Good luck. We'll be praying for you. Guest guest
I know that this is a surgery group and all but it seems to me that the majority of orthodontically " average " people have their wisdom teeth taken out as well. They sure are annoying little teeth, maybe they shouldn't be graced with such a great name. I mean, WISDOM, seems to me they're not so wise if they can't figure out how to grow in properly. Sheesh! In any case, don't worry about the extraction, I'm sure it will all go well. Take care, Neta-lee > > Hi all, > > I'm having my wisdom teeth out tomorrow and I'm freaking out! Guest guest
Hello! If you've been reading any of my posts, you know by now that I'm the biggest baby there is. Scared of it all. Take heart that I had four severely impacted in the bone wisdom teeth removed a few years ago. The surgery was a piece of cake. The IV is a pinch going in, asleep within minutes. I remember waking up very pleasantly surprised. There was no passage of time, no feeling of anything. Nothing to be afraid of with anesthesia. I have the big jaw surgery coming up soon and I don't fear the little nap one bit, since I've had the wisdom teeth surgery. You are in good hands with the professionals and they monitor you the whole time. Good luck! Irish! > Hi all, > I'm having my wisdom teeth out tomorrow and I'm freaking out! Guest guest
Usually with wisdoms, the " going under " , if it's in a doctor's office, is just twilight, not full general anethesia. Twilight is a piece of cake, you don't get nauseated, you don't wake up feeling like crap, it doesn't take forever for you to wake up either. I had 3 taken out under twilight, the other 2 taken out under general in day surgery (those were the ones that broke the jaw, since my lower jaw is so short, every time he tried to get those ones out in the office, I would stop breathing, sort of like a forced apnea. So I had to go under general anethesia to get them out.) If yours aren't that impacted you might be able to use nitrous, that's what I used when I got my last premolars out right before I got my braces on. I LOVE nitrous, and I'm not ashamed to admit it;). You feel so good during, and no nasty side effects and you come out of it as soon as the little mask is off your face. I could never be a dentist because I would be like the Steve character in " Little Shop of Horrors " with the nitrous mask on my face all day. I've only had it a couple of times though, even though my jaw is useless, I have fabulous enamel, other than cleanings, I haven't had to do much to my teeth in years. What's so funny is that my husband has terrible teeth by heredity and has had to have 4 root canals with crowns (at $800 a pop our share) plus cavities plus some other stuff and he will end up having a more expensive mouth than me out of our own pocket, even though I'm having the $35000 surgery. I get tired of my job, but I gotta love the benefits. J. > > Hi all, > > I'm having my wisdom teeth out tomorrow and I'm freaking out! Not > so > > much about the procedeure but about the anesthesia! Guest guest
Irish, if you did so well on your impacted wisdoms, I'll bet you do awesome through this. I have heard that impacted wisdoms can and usually are far worse than this. Donna > > Hi all, > > I'm having my wisdom teeth out tomorrow and I'm freaking out!
