Guest guest
WOW Terry ! It's so good to hear all of this. You really should omit me from the invite list though. I've been known to travel and stay. LOL Just got back from a wonderful visit to Georgia, meeting first person I met on old urticaria message board. On a serious note- I am SO enthused and excited to hear of your pleasant visit and the Dr.'s knowledge and compassion! This type of posting is a rare entity around here lately. I just can't wait to hear your results and will definately consider visiting Mass. (not far from me actually) upon hearing positive results. THANKS so much to you AND your understanding and obviously loving, sympathetic wife and terrible 2er. With LOVE and prayer....
Guest guest
Hi Terry! I'm so glad your meeting with Dr. Hunt went so well. I will be very curious as to what blood tests he ordered....I don't think he ever ordered any for me?! I may have brought my slew of past results. Anyway.....It's nice to finely feel understood, huh? I see him in a month too. I appreciate your housing offer, too. : ) I'm glad you're starting on teh singulair too...I am on it twice a day. I like Dr. Hunt, too, in that he really knows about hypercortisolism (or hte steroid side-effects). He's been so compassionate with me about what I've been through with it. The other nice thing is he will mail you a detailed lettera fter each visit of what his diagnosis is and what his clinical recommendations are. It also summarizes anything you talked about. The nice thing about this is that youc an keep it in your files and it makes for good info. for other doctor appts. anyway....I'm glad it went well! I hope his nurse doesn't shoot me for the sudden influx of patients...LOL. Maddy
Guest guest
I'm new here so this question probably sounds stupid, but do you know if most insurance will cover a visit to the Mayo? Isn't singulair an asthma drug? So nice of you to share this info. A beacon of hope! Thank you!
Guest guest
Hi there... NOT a stupid question about insurance...with all of our medical expenses, it's stupid not to ask it, you know? Just call your insurance provider and ask. Mine is a PPO so I have preferred providers where they pay 100% and people out of network they cover 80%. Mayo is out of network for me, so I pay 80% which can get costly b/c I have to have pulmonary function tests every time I go (I have life-threatening steroid-dependent asthma which is why I orignally say Dr. Hunt). But for the most part, Mayo has been excellent in working with my very slow insurance and the prices aren't more than other docs in my expeirence. Guest guest
Dear Terry, I am very interested in your appointment. I was also put on Singulair an asthma drug but it didn't work for me. Your doc talking about adjusting your immune system makes a lot of sense. My doc works only with the symptoms. He says the 16 antihistimines a day are safe but I wonder???? Please let me know how you make out. Maybe I will come to the Mayo Clinic. Barbara from Boston
Guest guest
Hi, yup, singulair is an asthma drug but the principle of immunilogical disorder is the same. It's minimizing the reactant cells that are the key, (or so I think I understand it). The actual Dr's visit should be covered, or most of it depending on your coverage, but the trip may not be. I'd really check out what your insurance will do. Mine covers 80/20 of usual and customary, and then I pay the rest, but man I'd sell my house if I could get a normal life back... Guest guest
Dear Maddy, I can't thank you enough for the recommend for Dr. Hunt. I think we have some hope now. I know some of what he ordered was a very extensive hap. screen, proteins and compliments, sed rate, general CBC and the rest.. ??? I know that he filled almost every check box on the sheet for the test's that he ordered. You may be current with the test's that you've had done so you don't have to have as much done. Anyway, you mae sure you let me know what your travel plans are, and my wife patty and I will take care of the rest. I'm looking forward to seeing you! God Bless you and keep the faith...
