When she talks on the phone to grandma and grandpa, we switch the hearing aids to T so that there is no feedback when the receiver is up to her ear. She usually hears them well that way. To have one retrofit into the hearing aid, you would have to send them into the manufacturer. Am I to understand it fits on the hearing aid and the telephone and >then > you switch the HA to telecoil? Info, please! With the T-coil in the hearing aid switched on, you'll be able to pick up whatever's coming though a nearby induction loop. Most phones now have induction loops. To see if a pay phone has an inductionloop, it should have blue showing where the cord meets the handset - or at least that's how you used to be able to tell. Don't know if they still do that or not. Here is a wonderful page that explains all about t-coils: http://hohadvocates.org/telecoils.htm > I am wondering if I >should look > into an amplified telephone, maybe? Couldn't hurt to try one out. Are you near a center that has some of them set up so you can try them out? Kay

There's also a third setting, standard on some aids, optional on others, MT. Both the mic and Tcoil are on at the same time. Chris
Guest guest
Which brand of HA has the Mic and T coil together? We have had 3 different types of Phonaks, and none of them had a combination switch. So the setting is available in the aid, but it's not on the regular switch.

Guest guest
We had 's Phonak PicoNet2s reprogrammed so that his M switch acted like MT so that his teacher could turn on his Microlink FM without the remote control. It only took his audie about a minute to do it on the computer. We have found the setting to be more useful than a T alone setting. -Daphne RE: Repost about T-coil and msg for Elaine > At 10:10 PM 10/11/00 -0400, you wrote: > > > > > >Which brand of HA has the Mic and T coil together? Guest guest
Until our latest audiologist, we had no idea that hearing aids could be customized almost anyway you want them. had his hearing aids customized by the manufacturer to allow him to use the hearing aid and fm simultaneously. It was an option, no one had even bothered to tell us about in the past. So, check with your audiologist if a particular hearing aid configuration doesn't meet your child's needs.
