Hi everyone!

I'm sorry it has been so long sense I have written anything. With the

move and everything, it has been extremyly busy!!!

I was hoping to have some news about my mother but I'm sad to say she

is still in the hospital and isnt doing too well lately. We have a

meeting with her doctors, all of them and the nurses, therapist, etc.

tomorrow at 1 O'Clock, and I am hoping to have more info then. Her

surgery didnt go too well, she was put on a vent for several days and

aparently they messed up the surgery on her spinal colum,

the " nicked " her colum (dont know the terms) and she was leaking

spinal fluid, the thought they had fixed the problem, but she has had

nothing but complications sense then. She has been flat on her back

15 days now, and I am paniced with thoughts that see may never walk

again, from being down so long. Does any one know if she is off her

feet so long, and being as week as she is, is there that possibility

that she may loose the functions in her legs?

Tonight, she has developed another fever and she has not been eating

or drinking anything for several days, she is still on IV's for this

because she refuses to do for herself, her mental state is at an all

time low, which for her is really low. .

They are doing another MRI tonight and I'm really hoping for some

good news soon.

I will write more tomorrow after the meeting, I am hoping to know

much more, I am praying for all of you, and have tried to keep up

with the groups news.

Happy Valentines day to everyone, I hope everyone has a sweetheart

that gets them exactly what they want!! Yeah, what fantasy am I

living in?? LOL, Take care everyone, and thank you for listening.

Sandy

Hi Everyone.....sorry I haven't been on but I'm going through my

sleeping streak. I feel whipped.....

Sandy.... I'm so glad to finally hear from you. I figured you were

really busy from moving... my most favorite thing to do...

NOT! So glad it's all over with for you and your family.

I'm sorry to hear about your mother. She's had a time of it but I'm

glad she's still in the hospital where they can keep her comfortable and

watch her round the clock. As time goes by her strength and will,

will return. She's gone through a lot for one person. It's going to

take some time to see how much function she has.

Her body is taking a much needed rest and I'm sure she'll do alot better

in a few weeks.

Keep us posted as to what you hear from the doctors. My thoughts and

prayers are with you and your family.

Gentle hugs,

Vicki

Sandy,

I am glad you are moved and close to your mom. I, too, was hoping when we

heard from you again that it would be better news. Hang in there and don't

forget to stop and take care of yourself too. Your stress level must be

really high. Moving is stressful enough without having any other factors.

Let your mom know we're thinking of her and keep us up to date.

Hugs, Cari

If your mother's spinal column was only knicked, then this would only cause spinal fluid to leak. This causes sever headaches especially when upright, disorientation, nausea, and dizziness. There are things that can be done to try and fix the leak without another surgery, but in many cases surgery is required to repair the leak.

If they had done damage to her spinal cord, she would be having symptoms such as numbness, tingling, loss of sensation and possibly paralysis.

Your mother being off her feet for a few weeks will not prevent her from walking again. It may take her some time to get back up and going, but this complication should not prevent her from walking unless there has been some damage to her spinal cord that they are not telling you about. She may need some physical therapy to help begin to walk again because she will be weak and will need assistance.

What do they think is the cause of her infection and the decrease of her mental state?

Sandy don't be afraid to ask questions.

Gentle hugs,

Fern

Dear All,

This week I am out at our Retreat Center helping with a retreat for the

Sisters. I help present a morning and evening prayer experience and the

rest of the day is mine to vegetate....I love this! This is my idea of a

JOB!!!! I am sleeping, reading, and looking for woodchucks (so far, no

luck!) My foot is better, but there is still some pain. This morning I

washed my walking boot so I notice it more not having it one. have a great

day!!!

Hello Ann-Marie

Wow, on a retreat... how wonderful.... Do you think I can go on a

retreat from myositis....??? Wouldn't that be great? Kidding aside, I'm

so glad you're resting and enjoying your time off. Have a great

time... Hope you see a woodchuck before you leave....

Hugs

Vicki
