Guest guest
Hi, I can't answer any of your questions as I am new at this myself but when you mentioned about lupus not showing up in a blood test right away my heart sank. Lupus runs on my husbands side (My neice is losing her battle with it now) and that is the first thing they tested my daughter for and it came back negative so I put it to rest but now I am curious if anyone has ever heard of it taking awhile to show up in blood work. Guest guest
How long did she have the hives before finding out it was lupus?
Guest guest
Hi , Lupus is notoriously difficult to diagnose. There was a lady who was on the list about eighteen months ago and Lupus was on her maternal grandmother's side. All of this lady's tests for Lupus came back negative, but she was sure she had it. She had quite a struggle with her doctors. In the end she stopped taking all drugs for several weeks to 'clean out' her system of pharmaceuticals and then went for another test - which came up positive. She maintained that it was imperative to be 'drug free' before the Lupus test was performed as drugs apparently can distort the test results. She has experienced miscarriages, tested positive for the HIV virus when she doesn't have it and a few other strange things to boot which were due to the Lupus fooling her immune system and bringing up inaccurate blood test results. I am still in touch with her so could ask her if she would mind explaining this as I am sure she would do a much better job than me! Guest guest
Hi Thank you for that information. Its amazing what doctors won't tell you. Anyway, yes I would love to hear anymore she could add to this. Thank You~ Visit to Allergist/ Questions for all > > > > > > > Questions for my hiving friends: > > > > > > 1. blood testing. Guest guest
yes... new research indicates having many test's for CU re-run every 6 months... > In a message dated 01/17/2001 10:46:18 AM Eastern Standard Time, > ilgar@p... writes: > > << I am curious if anyone has ever > heard of it taking awhile to show up in blood work. >> > > Me too! >
Guest guest
Hi , An answer on your question regarding h-pylori blood test. The breath test is more accurate than the blood test. My daughter had a blood test and was positive. The problem is that there are many kits that test for this in the blood but run from inaccurate to completely worthless. And, once you have h-pylori and even if cured the blood test will always come back positive. The only real test is to be scoped and have biopsies done from the stomach. My 11 year old daughter had that done yesterday here at Texas Childrens in Houston. She had tested positive for h-pylori and was treated 3 months ago. She since has had no hives until a very small amount of itching on her legs 3 days ago. But she has complained about stomach aches(lower) for the past 6 years. The pediatric gasto dr. suggested the scope. Good thing. We found out that she has still inflammation of the duodenum and probably has been there for years. We are now treating her with 40mg of Prilosec daily. Hope this helps. But I would definitely at least get a breath test done because I think this is what caused my daughters CU for the past year. Good luck! Jane P.S. , my daughter at one time took an adult doseage of Allegra 180mg/ twice a day. >From: maxum1997@... >Reply-To: urticariaegroups >To: urticariaegroups >Subject: Visit to Allergist/ Questions for all >Date: Tue, 16 Jan 2001 22:58:36 EST > >Questions for my hiving friends: > >1. blood testing.
