Merry Christmas!

I joined yesterday. I had a lumpectomy on monday 12-20-04. they took

4 lymph nodes. Dr called and said the margins were good and the lymph

nodes were clear. I am still having bouts of nausea and dizziness.I'm

scared. Is this normal? Dr. said an after effect of the anesthesa.I

am on the verge of tears all the time. I can't watch a tv program or

even a commercial without crying. I am so tired. I barely left my apt

all week. If the mail

didn't come I don't think I would have crossed the front door. Is

this from the surgery? or

am I just feeling sorry for myself? If it wasn't Christmas today. I

would not even get out of bed today.

Hi and welcome to the group. The nausea probably is an after effect of the anethesia. Any surgery is a shock to you body. When you are diagnosed with cancer or any other major illness you can go through the same feelings as when someone dies. After all you have lost part of your body.If the crying continues talk to your dr and he could probably give you and anti depressant. You are in my prayers.

Might be a combination of things; diagnosis, surgery and the good old

Christmas blues that a lot of people get.

I think you will feel better each day so take one day at a time and be

positive as much as possible. Doris

Hey, you got good news!! Having no cancerous lymph nodes is the best

thing. You also saved your breast and may only have to have

radiation therapy. If you also require chemo, that is a little more

of a struggle but with clear lymph nodes your prognosis is SO much

better regardless of anything!!

Yes, the surgery and aneasthesia affected me, too. I learned that

aneasthesia makes me sick. I also couldn't watch anything on TV that

was " heavy " , like news about war or violence, but only light

comedies. But in a month I was over it, and now, 3 1/2 months later,

I'm WAY over it (though in my case I had a mastectomy, thus was

fortunate enough not to even need radiation therapy, let alone chemo.)

Take things one thing at a time and don't worry -- I think it's more

the fear of what we don't know than what we do. Your doctors will

explain more to you as your treatment plan comes into view from the

pathology results. Ask them questions so you get it all clear. I

think you will just walk through it all with flying colors (and some

complaints, of course, like we all get).

Love,

Janie
