We have a city-wide policy that, once you have a certain amount of sick hours built up, you can turn them into vacation days. However, you have to have something like 1000 hours. I have been there 4.5 years, only used one day and only have 280 hours. Well, I guess you can't count the last year and a half, since I didn't accumulate sick leave while I was gone. But, it still takes a while to get there. ===== Kim I make a difference Tulsa, OK
Guest guest
We have a buy back policy. After your bank is maxed out once a year the department buys back any unused sick time at 50 cents on the dollar. Makes a nice extra check around the second week of July. We can donate ours to someone who needs it -- like if someone needs or you just want to give someone more paternity/maternity leave. Otherwise we get ALL our sick time tagged onto our retirement -- but you gotta retire out of the department.
