Neither kid was easy. My older son lacked passion for life and was a couch potato. My younger son got arrested in a dodgeball incident during recess. After a couple years on stimulants I grew weary of the side effects. Each kid looked skinny, unhealthy, and didn't eat lunch. My older son had a really hard time sleeping on stimulants too. Thank God someone introduced us to biomed. It made a radical difference in their lives. (In fact my older son has just written a book for teenagers on his recovery through biomed.) Anyway, here is what helped the specimens in my case study:1) gf/cf diet less IGG food allergies (For my younger son removing milk was HUGE.)2) prescription antifungals (we were on them for 2 solid years. We rotated between Sporonox, Diflucan and Ketoconozole.) This was HUGE for us.3) supplements - particularly zinc and fish oil4) MB12 shots for my older son.5) Thyroid support for my older son. Even though he was extremely skinny he was hypothyroid.6) Addressing allergies. We used Clariton for a while, then found an alternative treatment which was better: www.allergytx.com7) Sports..........and jogging. Having good core strength makes focusing easier. We did a lot of other things.......antiviral trial, antibiotics, hyperbaric, biofeedback, chelation etc, etc, etc. But the things listed above - kind of the basics - were the best for us. It is important to remember that this all takes time. Healing the body and fixing the brain is more like crockpot cooking than microwaving.I'd say my older son is fully baked and I don't believe that anyone meeting him now has a clue that he was ever diagnosed Inattentive ADHD. Moreover, he has moved from couch potato to fitness buff. My younger son has a few more issues to work out, but I can drop him off at summer camp and not worry that I'm going to get a call from some camp counselor at home.......or a lecture when I pick him up. Find a good DAN! doctor (preferred) or a functional medicine doc, environmental medicine doc or naturopath experienced in ADHD. Be patient by persistent and read lots of books, Like Healing the New Childhood Epidemics: Autism, ADHD, Asthma and Allergies, to keep you motivated.Good Luck!Debbie>> Can some people share their successes about ADHD and what they use?
