However there are still several 10 codes and a few signal codes that we use daily. < You find that in most agencies, and I really don't have a problem with it, but when you try to do away with all the codes, and go entirely to " plain language " .. You just lose a " flow " .... And the longer it continues the Dispatchers tend to become more lax in the " plain language " and it becomes more like a telephone conversation. I truly believe you lose professionalism. For those of us who have been around a while, we remember when codes were much more prevalent. We remember what it sounded like then, and we know what it sounds like now... believe me... there is a huge difference. I think 10 codes make Dispatchers sound much more professional. And believe me... if you sound professional, you are more thought of as professional, and I believe, when you are thought of a professional, you work harder to BE more professional.
