Guest guest
I was wondering whether doing exercise has caused my recent outbreak? Does anyone find that walking, aerobics and strength training cause more hives? I think that we can collectively come up with a book of what to expect when you have hives, definitions for different kind of hives. I would like definitions for: pressure hives giant urticaria mechanical hives angeoedima and what other hives are there. I am sure that I have them. I would also like to know whether anyone has found a link to food, chemicals etc. Is there an answer that we're overlooking? I usually can solve problems, for this one I have more questions than answers. Barbara
Guest guest
Apparently it is common to have several types of hives at once. I should know, I have them. Barbara
Guest guest
What are mechanical hives? Is it common to have many different kinds of urticaria? Guest guest
Barbara I have actually noticed I get hives when I work out. I am not sure the exercise is the cause. I haven't exercised in so long that I can't remember. As far as chemicals, I am allergic to aspirin and all anti-inflammatories. Is anyone else allergic to these? I am also allergic to sulfa drugs. I cannot wear eyeshadow or purple eyeliner. I can wear any other makeup, but those two things. I was told I could be allergic to Salicylates (sp) as that is found in aspirin and many, many foods; most citrus fruits, potatoes, and on and on. It is also found in Yellow #5. If you ever read what is in foods you eat, (I am sure most of you do) you will find that Yellow 5 is in a lot of processed foods. It is also used in a lot of hair products, etc. There is dye in everything. Could be a connection. Tried the Salicylate free diet, but didn't have any success with it. Does anyone else have an allergy to aspirin? other drugs?
Guest guest
Hello : I'm allergic to a few drugs. I'm allergic to ibuprofen. It has a cross reaction with aspirin, so I'm supposed to avoid that too. I'm also allergic to sulfa drugs. In foods I'm allergic to bananas, and strangely Cool Whip. I haven't reacted to other Salicylates though. Someone, I'm sorry I can't remember who, was talking about hypnosis to help control migraines. I'm wondering, does the hypnosis help control your out breaks of hives? winphred@... << Does anyone else have an allergy to aspirin? other drugs? >>
Guest guest
The doctor told me to pay attention and see whether the hives get worse when I exercise. They did. I am in denial. I am so anxious to work out so that my body doesn't stiffen and that my metabolism gets revved up. I am taking today off and see how I feel. Tomorrow I will teach aerobics again and see whether I get worse. What a bitch. Do you have relapses? I always have hives but sometimes they are so quiet that I can go about my business. OTher times they flare up and I am almost back to square one. Barbara My\ internist wants to put me on Nasalchrom because I have had a sinus/cough for 8 months. Could this be the cause of my hives? Guest guest
Jacquie, What about citric acid (it's in everything!)? Did you ever try a Salicylate free diet?
Guest guest
Hi My allergies are all Nsaids (anti-inflammatories) although I can tolerate a little Advil once in a great while, sulpha, and Citrus fruit. Guest guest
Jacquie, It isn't fun! I tried it. Didn't seem to work for me. Don't know if maybe I just wasn't on it long enough to see a result.
Guest guest
Dear Believe me I know citric acid is in everything. I very rarely have a salad dressing other than my own homemade vinegar and oil. I looked at the salicilate free diet and it looked like no fun. I just avoid tomatoes and a few other things. Thanks!
