Guest guest
Hi Seth, I just found this site a couple of weeks ago. It has been really helpful and the people are very supportive. My 11 year old daughter has idiopathic and pressure CU. She has had it daily for almost a year now. Her meds (20mg zyrtec & 150mg zantac) have kept hers manageable and under control with exception of a few major flare ups. What meds have you taken and are they helping any? Do you hive when you aren't exerting yourself? Did it come on all at once? Has it got worse as time has went on? What tests have you had done? Sorry about all the questions but I know through reading the mail that some here have dealt with it for several years and have did alot of research on it. Just know you aren't miserable alone. Guest guest
Hi, Seth. You're the same age as my twin girls, and I know how difficult it must be to deal with this disease at your age. It's hard at any age! I have multiple forms of chronic urticaria, including cholinergic, dermatographia and delayed pressure urticaria. I'm one of the long-term hivers here, going on 13 years next month, so I've learned quite a bit over the years. I see you live in Florida - it must be really miserable in the heat of summer for you. What kind of treatments/medications have you been put on? Have you found anything that controls your symptoms? How long have you been suffering with this? Do you also have swelling (angioedema) with your hives? You'll find this group to be very knowledgable - probably more so than most doctors - and very willing to listen. Feel free to complain, rant, and ask plenty of questions! Have you checked out all the info on the ICUS site yet? (http://www.nerosworld.com/icus/) It's a great place to start learning all you can. Knowledge is power. You can also read through previous postings to the group; you may find something of use. (/group/urticaria) Click on the " Messages " link in the left hand column. Stuff that has an NCU " at the beginning of the post title is " non chronic urticaria " which you may want to skip. Sorry you had to join our itchy group, but very glad you found us. Hope we can help you. Guest guest
Hi Seth. One good thing in your favor is you have great weather. I live on the east coast with all the snow. In fact I am hoping to be in florida either feb or march for vacation. Have you been taking any medications for your condition. I know it is uncomfortable. I have had it for 2 1/2 years. In fact I am having a bad couple of days since I had the stomach virus. I am itchy and have some swelling. Have you been tested by an alergist. Also have you had your thyroid tested. Alot of us have thyroid problems and I think it may have something to do with CU. Try to keep your chin up. Go out and have fun. dont let it get the best of you. Where in Florida are you from? Its a great state. Let me know how you make out with your CU Keep Scratching (nothing else works) Sandy

Guest guest
Hi Seth, Just read your e-mail and wanted to welcome you to this site. Through each others experiences and knowledgeable people on the site, we have helped one another. I am certain that you will find something that may bring you some relief. The support has helped all of us get through many itchy times. I know that it has helped me...I had hives as a toddler on and off and not again until I hit my 30's. This site helped me to guide my dr. with trial and error in medicines prescribed and I have had good results since November. Keep listening and maybe something will jump out at you and you will recognize similarities. I wish you the best!!! Joyce hi yall > Hey you guys im a new member of this urticaria group.
