Guest guest
Jody, LOL. I know, I now laugh at his words, " new and revolutionary " to be exact. Ah well, maybe just new to him. Hey, I'd take 100%/50%! At first when I would drive Whitney to the Dr., (yes alone), I would cry because I was so scared for her. I really felt like I had no choice. Our insurance denied nursing all together, and denied our appeal for nursing, and because we were new to the area, we were just getting in touch with the state programs. Unfortunately, all of the paperwork took this long before we were approved for respite. (please, don't get out the violin) Whitney has now developed a pretty strong cough, but I do sometimes have to pull over to suction her if she just can't clear herself on her own. I think I've become tuned into her breathing sounds to know just when she really needs help, and when to try to let her work it out on her own. Because she has a pulse ox at home, I know she can tolerate some coughing before her oxygen levels drop. Anyway, I wouldn't recommend driving a child with a trach on your own. I've just done it out of necessity. You and Ethan take care. DeAnn Wells, Mom to Austin 9, 6, and Whitney 22 months.
