Guest guest
It's a Bone Anchored Hearing Aid. It's more for hearing loss with a conductive component (middle ear) instead of sensorineural. It depends on the child's hearing loss as to whether or not the BAHA has a chance of being successful. We started with a softband, which is a " hairband " type of thing with the hearing aid at the back, which sits on the child's mastoid bone. The bone vibrates and that is how the children hear. It's something to ask your child's audiologist about, that's for sure. Kennedy is going for a BAHA implant on June 28th in Toronto, where they will put a screw into the bone and leave an abutment sticking out where the hearing aid will snap onto. This should improve even further her sound quality and remove the need to wear the band around her head. For more information, you may also visit www.entific.com Weir Home: lisaweir@...
