Guest guest
Hi group, Just started doing some contract work in a CORF. Spoke to the owner about my discomfort about their using an aide to perform ultrasound and monitor exercises, while the other PTs are usually with another patient in a separate treatment room. I was told that it was ok because the aide was " certified " in modalities (something I've never heard of). Additionally, an OT at the same facility told me she delegated the ultrasound part of a treatment of one of her patients to the aide as she (the OT) was not " certified " in modalities. Am I missing something? I have allowed the aide to get patients and equipment ready, but not to carry out any part of the treatment of my patients. Before I say anything more, I want to know exactly what " certified " in modalities means. What is also upsetting to me is that the therapy aide is in PTA school and apparently does not know that this is a problem. I appreciate the feedback from this group. Thanks, DA, PT
