Guest guest
By the way, I might still be offline for a while. The authorities here say there isn't enough power generation to supply the whole city, so there may be what they call " rolling blackouts " , and we're not supposed to turn on air conditioners (it's going to be 32 deg Celsius here today!). If you don't here from me for a few days... Pierre So far, survived the big blackout of 2003
Guest guest
Boy, if you are saying " complete madness " , it must be pretty awful. Being clueless in California, I didn't know what was going on until mentioned outages in her post yesterday. I am very, very glad you went to the ER - I can't imagine negotiating the gridlock only to be told that the generator failed. Hopefully the wait was not too bad. and I were looking at the newspaper headlines over coffee this AM. The photos of Port Authority in Manhattan looked like utter bedlam. It provided a nice chance to review NYC mass transit with . What surprised me were these multi-tiered things that held parked cars (not a multi-tiered garage, but more like shelves that held cars). I don't believe they had those when I lived in NYC. I've never seen them before. They made all the headlines here because apparently they're electrically operated and noone could get their cars. If anyone has any more info on these things (or even what they are called!), please let me know. Guest guest
One interesting thing about it all is how the good order and good behaviour being described by the media didn't match at all with what I saw. It's surprising just how many drivers are unable to understand the concept of a four way stop. Pierre Re: Power outages > Boy, if you are saying " complete madness " , it must be pretty awful. Guest guest
Listening to NPR just now, Ottawa is getting a lot of attention, although nothing that you hadn't mentioned. Just heard Bloomberg in NYC reminding drivers to treat everything as a four way stop - so apparently folks are none the wiser there either. I just hope this gets cleared up in time for your next dialysis. Everyone else out there OK? Cy Re: Power outages > > > > Boy, if you are saying " complete madness " , it must be pretty awful.
