Some of you know that I spend a lot of my time writing short stories

and articles about things in my life. Well, after I posted the note

to Eva, I thought of this and sat down to write it. I hope it will

give all of you something to think about. And remember, " It's Not

Over... " Doris

It's Not Over Until…..

Today I used an expression that my daddy used frequently. A friend

in my breast cancer support group had gotten some pretty bad news and

was looking for some support. A lot of members of the group had given

her their words of wisdom and support and suddenly my daddy's words

rang in my ears. He used to say, " It's not over till the fat lady

sings. " And that expression seemed to be appropriate along with the

other words I wrote to her.

We all have our problems, large ones and small ones. We all know

that there is no fat lady who will be singing at the end of our

problem. However, we can keep in mind that the expression means that

we should not give up hope, we should keep fighting and we should look

for a good result. We can listen for the singing and perhaps in our

heads we will hear it. But maybe that lady sings when it is over

because of good results and not always for the bad.

Listen carefully the next time you have a problem and just maybe you

will hear her sing. Maybe she will be singing a happy song and you

will smile with joy.
