Guest guest
It sounds like you have what I have. I went to atleast 6 docs and all of them said some different things and prescribed different medications. Mine is called Cholinergic Urticaria. Have they diagnosed you with anything yet? Look at www.emdeicine.com and look under cholinergic urticaria and see if you have some of the symptoms. See ya.

Guest guest
Hi, and sorry to hear of your desperation-glad you have found us. You say " this time " - when was the last time and how many times before that? I've had chronic urticaria for 8 years now, every day, no breaks. What work do you do? I work weekends only -don't know how people work full time with this thing. I am just about to have a big " thing " with my doctor next week - last month I asked for zyrtec, and she would only let me have10 mg per day. This just isn't enough. I went back to her for a repeat prescription and she insisted on making me go back to loratidine, but at only 50 % of the dosage I had been on before, saying it was a " very high " dosage.....previous to this, I had been on 50 % MORE loratidine and cemetidine, but she would not listen at all. I am 49 years old and tired of being patronised by my doctor....I have already changed doctors because of this and it is really hard to get a GP in London now, especially if you have a chronic condition. I can promise you that stress is NOT the cause, and when it gets beyond 6 weeks and becomes " chronic " , allergies are ruled out, too. Look at the ICUS site at http://www.nerosworld.com/icus/ and read, read, read. Read Myra's " Newbie " notes. Ask all the questions you want to, and someone will jump in and try to help you, I promise. I have copied lots of medical reports and messages from other members about the treatment of chronic urticaria, and have asked my doctor for a " double " appointment (20 minutes) to discuss the need for flexibility in the treatment of this rare condition. Will keep you all posted on my progress, hugs, Carol Help! Anyone > Hello, I have just found this website and group. I have been > suffering from hives this time for four months with no relief. Guest guest
Thank you so much for your reply. Yes, this has happened to me when I was very young and then ten years ago. At that time it was only for a short time (month). At the present moment I am off from work, due to my present condition. I normally work full time as an accountant for a large corporation. After dealing with this for a couple of months I had gone to my regular doctor (I was very upset at that moment) and he said it was from stress and go see a psychiatrist. The same day I did, and they placed on disability and wonderful antidepressants. Well, the antidepressants did nothing for me but get me depressed and sedated. Then I was told to go to an allergist. Things are no different here, it is very difficult to find a doctor that actually wants to deal with this. They placed me on Allegra, which does seem to block the hives. But I cannot function normally so. I began to panic this week knowing that I have to go back to work on the 18th, if I go back still sick I will lose my job. Finally, yesterday I had gone to a dermatologist, and she had told me that first my doctors need to run regular medical tests to rule out any types of illness that could be causing this. I also am in the process of changing the allergist, to another well known one. It seemed that due to the type of insurance I have she was not willing to assist me so. So I cannot wait until Thursday to see if they can help me at all. The dermatologist had told me that it is diffidently not stress, something is going on, what God only knows now. I will look up the site that you had suggested. I cannot thank you enough for replying...I was beginning to think that I am just nuts. This is an extremely frustrating condition. I wish you good luck with the doctor, please let me know what happens. Thanks!
