Guest guest
YEAH Connor You're a helmet GRAD!!! Woohoo! Way to round. cjwrcw <michele_walsh@...> wrote: Hi all. I have not posted too much lately. We were on vacation and my little guy is into everything and very active, and his sister is busy with swim lessons, so my computer time is limited these days.I have been thinking he looks pretty good and the ortho today thought he was looking great. The helmet(a Hanger band) has just about been outgrown. So, we decided Colin is DONE! I had been saying to dh, he is not perfect, but the helmet is becoming much more of a bother than his head shape so it must mean he is getting close to done, lol. I was really missing nuzzling his soft head(his hair, not his head hee, hee) and smelling a sweet little head. I am very satisfied with the forehead correction, and ear correction, amazingly, and there is just a small focal area of the post flatness that is barely noticable. I had been told not to expect as much in the forehead, but that it would come over time, so I am very happy with that. He is only 7 months old and never on his head while awake these days. He sleeps all over the place, so I think we should see more improvement. The ortho did do a final scan to compare, but things were running late for us, so he said he will mail the info to me after comparing. He did say, if he seems to end up sleeping on that side or has any regression, to call, and we can do a second band. He had such rapid growth, he simply outgrew this one very quickly. He has climbed in the percentiles from 70th to in between the 75th and 90th percentiles in his head circumference. I will post some pics when I get the chance. I tried to take some yesterday and the little cutie kept twisting and contorting to smile at the camera. Might be next to impossible, as he was doing the same thing today at his appt. So, we started right before Memorial Day weekend and were not even full time then and are out of it on Colin's 7 month birthday. That was about 2.25 months. Our estimate was to be 2-4 months. We might use it for sleeping for as long as it is a good fit as the ortho was able to make it a little roomier one more time. But he really thought he was looking so good, I think he said it for me, not because he thinks he needs it. Is it typical to have less than perfection at discharge? I am happy with his head, but was just wondering if it is typical to be a bit less than perfect and to see a bit more correction through the next months or year. Thanks to everyone for all the support and advice. I will lurk and post as able to assist others where I may. Guest guest
Hi Mish- CONGRATULATIONS! I am SO happy for you and your family. I am looking forward in seeing before and after photos! My girlfriend had the same scenario with her son. They graduated him when there was still some flattening, but she said that the flattening did not get worse but better without the band. If you are overall happy I say, YIPPEE! Give that little cutie a BIG kiss on his little round noggin' for me! Guest guest
Thankyou Krissy and all who have replied. Though I can see some assymetry(more than real flattening) I have met some new moms recently by the pool. They had seen him in the helmet for a day or few. They have all remarked on how good he looks and they could not tell he ever needed it. It is reassuring. I think I have a few pics that show several angles of his rounder head. He is too funny, twisting and turning to smile for the camera, so it has been tricky! We will get them up tonight, I hope. mish and Colin(Hanger cranial band grad at 7 months) > > > Hi all.
