I could not stop reading this book. I have a mother with untreated

borderline personality disorder. She remains in denial about it and

places her illness on me anytime I call her on anything. She has done

some crazy stuff to me in my lifetime. I could never understand how my

father did not stand up to her being that I am his child. I was able

to learn about the reasons that other husbands do remain silent. This

was a huge learning for me leading me to more compassion for my dad.

I'm learning to have compassion for my dad.

His mother had BPD from what we could piece together, she was in and out of

mental hospitals when he was a child, his sisters were twins during a time when

twins were on pedestals and considered unique and special....this gave his mom a

LOT of attention.

Then, he married my mother who was diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia, but I

think she leans more towards the BPD side with a very large dash of paranoia.

After she tried to kill him multiple times, he left and promptly found another

woman with BPD, complete control freak.

It's all he knows.

When I was a teenager, it was all I knew, I was trapped, in emotional tourmoil.

I feel bad for him. As much as I'd love for him to see what she is doing, for

him to reconnect with his family, to realize that he is loosing his daughter and

granddaughters, I doubt he ever will.

Sad fact is that he is going to be a very lonley man.
