Hi ,

My son was on pediasure until he was about 8 months old. Then he spit out his

bottle and refused to drink any more. Of course that happened on Christmas

weekend and my wife was in an absolute panic. We had been giving him a little

cereal before so we had some on hand.

So we just started giving him cereal made with pedisure rather than whatever the

instructions called for.

It was a month or so later when he was about 9 months that we started adding a

1/2 teaspoon of canola oil and gradually working our way up to a teaspoon.

It was at about a year old that we saw the endo and about 6 months latyer at 1

1/2 that he started on periactin (cyproheptadine). I am not sure what is the

youngest one can start on periactin but ask your doctor.

I have to admit 3 or 4 times we over fed our son and he threw up everything. I

feel bad about that because he must have felt terrible and we just kept giving

him more food.

I'd check with a nutritionist before adding anything to his food. For a while

the nutritionist had us add polycose which we got from the drug store. The

nutritionist had to specify the quantity.

I hope this helps.

> Ken,

HOw early did you start giving Pediasure and adding other things to

cereal for your son? My son is almost 5 months and the only thing

we're doing is concentrating his formula so it's 24 calories an ounce.

Also just started giving him cereal I haven't met with a

nutritionist yet and am in transition right now with health care and

doctors.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Also, at what age can they start on Periactin?

I can remember the first time Darcy smiled - he looked so odd as a baby we

kept a really close eye on his development! (Have no idea for his sister

though) Happy to say everything on track.
