THANK YOU!! Nice to hear that from somebody else! I have been saying that all along...one of the issues I have with the band...and the orthotist dismissed it, saying that if he trims it anymore, it won't fit properly. He says that the pressure against his cheeks is what keeps the helmet on. If he trims it more, the helmet won't stay on. I can understand that, but come on, who wants that styrofoam feeling digging into their cheeks all day? I tried to convince him to trim it but all he did was re-shape around the area where his glasses are. It's nice to hear that from somebody else. The man who fit him is the manager at the orthotics place - when I was walking in I saw another infant coming out of the shop with a cranial band on as well. I am guessing he worked on that boy too, have no idea how many others he works on. These bands and helmets can and do work wonders in the hands of an experienced ortho. Do you have any other treatment options? Is his band leaving a red mark on his little cheek? Well it's nice to know it's not just me, I am glad to hear that. He has an appt with his physical therapist next monday. I want an appt sooner though and will be calling her direct line tomorrow to ask her if we can squeeze in for a quick look. I feel so uncomfy banding him...I really hate the idea of putting it on him with the way it fits. Guest guest
Hi Margy, I was just looking at the picture of you posted in the photos section. He is an absolute doll, what a smile! Thanks for sharing his picture with us. The side of his band where the velcro closure is, it shouldn't be digging into his cheek like that. How much experience does your ortho have in treating plagio babies?

Guest guest
Hello Margy I know that when you leave the band off it might cause a fit issue, but it sounds like you really shouldn't put this band on him anymore. If the side is digging into his cheek than this is a major fit issue. I can't believe this ortho. I hope he never bands another baby. Please check for any / all treatment options near you, and/or further away. We just have a member that will use angel flight. I do believe that in your son's case / age it would be best to check for the next CT. They I do believe band till the age of 20+ months whereas the STARband goes to 18months. Good luck. I just hate that you are having to go through all of this. Banding shouldn't be such a hassle. I look back at our experience and actually smile thinking I loved decorating the band. Guest guest
Margy, It is only a good thing that you're uncomfortable putting his band on him the way it is now. That means you're on your toes and that is always good!! Do you have any other treatment options?? > In a message dated 6/22/2004 12:22:32 AM Pacific Daylight Time, > taime@o... writes: > > > I hate to say this, but if your ortho thinks it's ok that 's > > band is digging into his cheek, then he can't possibly have much if > > any experience treating plagio babies.
