Guest guest
Hi Debbie, I sure hope he works out for you.. Hugs..Patti sue Doc Report!! Good news! I saw my new new doc today (as opposed to my old new doc). The good news is that though he's skeptical, he's cooperating with me! Yea!! The bad news is I guess I have to cancel my appt with Doc Milton in Atlanta. I read such rave reviews about him that I think I was secretly hoping this new doc would be a bull headed as the most are. But now, dh will not hear of it and I must admit that if the new doc is cooperating, there's no need to drive four hours to Atlanta. Now, I went to this appointment fully expecting to be unsatisfied and never return. I had called last week and asked that they fax the bloodwork to me. They faxed four pages and not FT3!! Well, wouldn't you know it, I lose my copy. So today I asked the nurse to make me copies. She brought back five pages. The fifth was the FT3!! Here's the results with ranges. Blood was drawn non-fasting and I had taken my meds as I did not plan to have blood drawn when I saw him the first time. I had taken tests results drawn a week earlier by previous new doc. Ferritin: 112 range: 3-105 TSH: .74 range: .34-4.89 FT3: 3.7 range: 2.3-4.2 FT4: .8 range: .71-1.85 T3Uptake 1 range: .66-1.27 Thyroglobulin, Qn: 166.0 .5-55.0 This is Hashi Indicator. I think this was over 200 when Hashi's was diagnosed. I will contact old new doc for those results so I can compare. Doc was happy with all numbers and would not have changed anything, but....... I told him I wanted to up my meds to 1 1/2 grain. I confessed that I had already gone from one to 1 1/4 three weeks ago and that I felt a good bit better but was not where I wanted to be. I told him I wanted to push the upper limit on FT3 and the lower limit on TSH. He agreed to let me try. He asked if I knew why he didn't want me to go overboard and before I could answer said he didn't want my heart to flutter and did'nt want me to get osteoporosis. I told him I understood the heart problems and knew that was why we had to go slow and that he needn't worry about osteoporosis as only people on synthetics get that. He just grinned. He asked what if my problems with depression, energy and weight were from menopause or blood pressure. I told him I wanted to get the thyroid straightened out and then we'd see whats left to fix. He had asked me to go off all supplements except multivitamin so I told him I thought the garlic helped the bp. He said to go back on the garlic. Sometime during all this he mentioned he didn't want the TSH to go so low that I became hyper. I told him I understood, but didn't think it would go that low. I asked about cancer patients getting so much that their thyroid shut down yet they did'nt go hyper. He said that not the same thing, that I was not comparing apples to apples. I didn't press for an explanation. I also mentioned that as long as there was any TSH that the pituitary was asking for more, and maybe the sluggish thyroid couldnt' keep up. He gave an explanation and drew a diagram explaining the relationship of the pituitary and thyroid, but again I didn't argue. I'm thinking if he will let me increase the Armour enough to push the FT3 to the upper limit and depress the TSH, then I would consider other things causing any remaining symptoms. My basal temps are up to the 97.6 area since going to 1 1/4 grain. Many things are improving. I'm hoping the 1 1/2 grain will get that on up plus put the Ft3 and TSH where I want it. What do ya'll think of this plan? Also, what do ya'll think of my blood tests results? Anxiously awaiting your replys!! Blessings, Debbie K. Guest guest
HI, I don't know how far ahead you had to book an appointment with Dr. Milton, however, perhaps for prudence sake, instead of just canceling the appointment, you could reschedule for a month or two from now? Just in case this new doctor changes colors (attitude) on you???? Gossimer > Good news! Guest guest
Glad to repost. I thought you might like that, but was hesitant to clutter everything up. I had already posted about three times trying to get responses. Even changed the subject line once. Don't apologize.... I'm just glad to know you're back and the others soon will be. Plus, you can't let your whole life revolve around us here. There's much more to it than that. There seems to be more responding from everyone today ... guess the weekend brings catch-up time for lots of folks. Blessings, Debbie K. PS: It amazes me that you handle so many groups! I joined some other thyroid groups, yours and 's being one, but I barely have time to read the posts, let alone participate. Doc Report!! Good news!
