Guest guest
MEEEEE!!!!!!!! We have been SCD for 2 months and all she will eat is scrambled eggs. Although, last weekend I gave her a grilled cheese with almond bread - didn't go over very well. Caused a severe vomiting incident and her bowls proved that she wasn't ready for nut flour just yet. She did eat some pork rinds last eve tho. Most everyone will tell you to keep trying, part of what you're seeing may be some die-off. All the advice is great and I tried every bit of it, my kiddo is just not going to budge. The other thing is I took my dd to her ped and he said wait her out - well after 4 days I have to cave, she's losing weight - I gave her more eggs. I'd give it a couple more days and see if he perks up any. He may not be on strike much longer.....a few days isn't quite long enough to tell . Karyn, Mom to , 4 yrs, dx - autism, GF/CF, SCD 2 months Thanks in advance...and thanks for the previous advice on supp's. Nora
Guest guest
> Thanks so much for the encouragement!! Today, after a full 78 hours without any food...I offered 1/4 of a banana and he took it. He actually said " mo " (more) and " mee " (please). He's pretty much non verbal...so I was thrilled, but didnt allow anymore banana. He fell apart for a good amt. of time, and has continued to reject the broth, carrots...everything. Im just going to make the bananas disappear for awhile until he takes some of these other foods that he's never accepted. Otherwise I could see him self-limiting to bananas....wouldnt be good. Thanks again..it's good to hear someone elses child not only survived, but benefit!! Nora, I know the first few days can seem daunting, but the magic > works afterwords. " Try the other way around...: FIRST offer him the 'unwanted' food and give a tiny, tiny piece of banana as a reinforcer. By keeping the banana pieces small, you can give them many times. Start by giving him a carrot. As soon as you see that he takes it in his mouth, give banana. Take this further, but small step by small step. It takes time, but you may be able to systematically expand your son's diet like this. Make sure that he knows your intentions, he has to see the banana and make that connection. This may seem like bribing. It is not, until you say " IF you take this food now, you will get banana later " .
