Jackie, I cannot say whether it is due to MS,

or not, but I have had this happen--spasticity,

usually. My neuro was able to treat me for it.

Although it could be something else, it sounds

MS-related to me. My neurologist did prescribe

a vitamin complex which included fairly high

doses of magnesium and calcium--seemed

to help a great deal.

If your neurologist cannot figure it out, I do

not have much to suggest. I think that I would

be tempted to seek a new one!

If the weather is hot where you are, that can

stir up most any imaginable MS symptom.

Best of luck to you in solving this mystery.

This causes me to think of MS as:

"Mysterious Surprises."

Love to you, Jackie and to anyone else

having problems like this,

Can't figure this !

Hi everyone,... ....I had something happen to me for the entire night last night while I was trying to sleep, and I have had this symptom while awake, but not while sleeping and so many times. Maybe someone here experiences the same thing and can tell me what it is and if its MS related?

If I have been laying in bed still for awhile when I try to move, my right leg would stretch out straight and all the muscles from my foot to my hip would go rigid lasting just a single cycle, maybe 10 to 20 secs., and then it would relax and I could move it and get up. Its gotten so bad that it twists my foot to the point where it is constantly swollen I think from damage to the tendons and ligaments. I also have this happen in my right arm now, and my hand will curl under and sideways. Its not as intense as the leg. Now its starting in my left leg a little bit, and I have had it spread up to my upper torso if its a strong longer stretch.

Last night in bed every time I moved I'd have one of these happen. Kept waking me up, and as soon as I relaxed it seemed to take hold again.

Does anyone know what this is? I've mentioned it to my Dr., but she doesn't know either. Is it an MS thing? and if so is there a name for it besides spasticity? I take a muscle relaxant, and my pain meds like usual before bed, so there isn't any change from that routine.

I'm really hoping this isn't going to be a nightly thing because I don't know what causes it and what will prevent it. I can't up my meds because I've got some intolerance issues, and have to take small doses.

So does this sound familiar to anyone?

Blessings and hugs, Jackie

This kind of stuff used to happen to me, only in was the left side of my face, my left arm, and sometimes my left leg. I thought, and still do think it was spasticity due to the MS. A few family memebers told me I should have gone to the hospital. They thought I was having mini-strokes. It hasn't happened in quite a few years.

Love and blessings,

Val

Calcium/Magnesium/Zinc comes in one tablet - it is at Wally World - we don't have any other big stores in town

Is there pain with it? If so, what's it like? (It sounds like it woud hurt! lol).

My Mom has trouble with spasms and intense pain at night. I wonder if this is similar?
