I used to be able to drink coffee but not anymore :( ...anyway in Elaine's book she talks about lactaid drops however if you live in US they do not sell the liquid here anymore and I had to get them on line from a pharmacy in Canada. You follow the direction up to the point of how many drops you put in the cream for its weight and then follow Elaine's directions which is wait 24 hrs before using. Although if I remember correctly she called this a treat once in a while but I am not sure since I do not drink coffee anymore.

Hope this helped, good luck

Yes on pg. 63 of BTVC, it says that once the individual makes considerable progress and is on the road to recovery small amounts may be used in tea, coffee and in cooking.Best wishes,Kim H.husband, , CD 1999SCD 2002 Coffee creamTo: BTVC-SCD@yahoogroup s.com> Hi Team :o)> > Can someone tell me if there's a way to treat cream so that we > can add > it to coffee? Hi ,Yeah, if you put cream in the yogurt maker with starter and leave for 24 hours which is the only way it would be legal, you're just going to have really rich, creamy, thick yogurt. I've made yogurt out of cream before and it makes a wonderful cheesecake. I'm not sure how it would be in coffee though. Also, be sure to check your cream carefully. Cream and half & half very often have sweeteners, thickeners, gums, etc. added.Best wishes,Kim H.husband, , CD 1999SCD 2002 Coffee cream

Hi Team :o)

Can someone tell me if there's a way to treat cream so that we can add

it to coffee? Because of my reflux, this would be helpful. Before

starting the SCD diet, I always needed cream in my coffee. I'm

thinking putting the cream in my yogurt maker and adding yogurt starter

but this will make really thick yogurt out of it right? I read

somewhere about lactaid drops. Can I get this at the pharmacy? Has

anyone been successful?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

You must find heavy cream with no illegals -- no carrageenan or other

thickeners -- and then get some Lacteeze drops.

http://digestmilk.com/

is one source -- there are doubtless many others. (I have not ordered

from these folks, so have no idea what their service is like.)

Add the drops to the cream. Shake well. Store in the refrigerator for at

least 24 hours, shaking several more times. You may then use SMALL

amounts of this cream to add to your weak coffee.

Is it ever legal to use this method to make whipped cream for a dessert like lemon curd that will be for people who aren't lactose challenged?

Thanks,

Maybe. However, I've always made yogurt with the cream and then whipped

that.
