Antivirals/antifungals is long term therapy. My son has been on it since he was 3. He's almost 7 now. We're still trying to clear the viruses completely. Since you are already chelating, it may not be needed for more than a year or two. The only way to know is to stop giving it and see what happens. But I wouldn't do that for at least a year. And then I would only try to take him off after that once a year, twice would be my absolute limit a year. Cheryl ~http://www.gryffins-tail.blogspot.com ~@midian42~ Hi I am thinking about starting Valtrex and would like some advise. My son who is 5 yrs old, weighing approx 35lbs, has been GF/CF for 18months and also been doing supplements for the same amount of time, although these have all been a bit trial and error, as some supplements he cannot tolerate, the reasons seem to be salicylate issues. The following are his supplements that he is currently taking:- 4.30am GI Revive x 2 capsule & liverlife (15 drops) & 3 cap of Candex 6.30am CP1 x 2, Lactobacillus x 1, Saac B x 2 & 3 dropper of Cytoflora & (1/4cap) Taurine. 7.00am Mag & B6 x 1, Calcium x 1, CLO x 5ml, 2 x DMG, MCT oil x 5ml, Brainchild vitamins x 5ml, vitamin K. Protein drink (one level tablespoon of pea protein & pineapple juice) 2 x megahydrate, Brainchild minerals 4pm L-lysine x 1 cap, liverlife x 10 drops, GI revive x 2 caps, 2 x candex 6pm -7pm All of 7am supps except CLO & megahydrate, plus Eskimo Kids x 5ml and 1 drop Vitamin D3, MB12, vitamin K. Protein drink (one level tablespoon of pea protein & pineapple juice). 9pm Probiotics (same as breakfast) and 3 enteroccocus, 3 x Transfer Factors & 3 droppers of Cytoflora. Every weekend Friday 4pm – Monday 8am Ala & DMSA capsule for chelation Can someone advise what dose should be given (if there are any interactions with other supps) and how many a day and I have heard about systematic antifungal, can anyone recommend which one to use and the dose for a 35lb child and again if there are any interactions with other supplements. Also how long do children need to stay on Valtrex for? What will I expect to see in my child when taking Valtrex, e.g How do I know if it is working? Are there any side effects to be aware of. Sorry in advance for so many questions, I just want to be fully prepared befor i start.
