Are you using Early Intervention services (also called Birth-to-three)

in some states? In MA, at least, congenital muscular torticollis is a

qualifying problem, and even when any resulting developmental delays

are resolved they will still continue to track progress because of the

originial diagnosis. We are using their services for my daughter .

I completely agree with the other response I saw - it would be best to

get going with your own program of neck stretches without waiting on

these appointments. In the end - it is you who do all the therapy

anyways - the PT just monitors the progress. Perhaps your pediatrician

can go over the stretches with you? I saw that someone suggested the

orthoseek site which does show diagrams. The HeadsUpBaby.com video

also shows how to do this.

I totally understand what you are going through. We had the same

problem with early intervention. They have to already be delayed in

most states to qualify. Is there a way you can go to a pt that is

in the EI program, but start out private and IF Kadie qualifies she

could just be picked up from there then?

I am so sorry that you are getting the run aorund with the tort

therapy program. I went through a simialr issue when my son was

first dx'd over a year ago. We were dx'd at his 2wk appt, but my

own denial caused me to wait for another 6 weeks before I would have

him evaluated. Much to my surprise, when they confirmed that my ds

had tort, that there was up to a six week waiting list to get into

the program. I think the therapist who was evaluating him picked my

jaw up off the ground...and told me what to do in the meantime. OK?

Needless to say, there was a cancellation and we were in the program

within 2 weeks.

As for deciding between OT and PT, I would not be able to choose if

I had to. We saw both, and both looked at different aspects of my

son's development, functioning, and in the end his plagio as well.

LOL They were the ones who dx'd that and forced me (denial again)

to seek treatment for the plagio.

Keep up the good fight...and keep us posted.
