Toms River is where my parents live now. When we got out of Newark, we moved

to Rutherford and where my house used to stand is now part of the Meadowlands

Sports Complex, which I have yet to see.

We then moved to Matawan Township which is now Aberdeen. Old Bridge was

pretty close. Do you remember Delicious Orchards in Colts Neck? Best place to

buy pies, cakes, and produce in the world. I was there last year and will be

shopping there again next month.

I hear you. My family who stayed in Jersey moved to Edison, Toms River, and

the AC area. After the riots in Newark in Œ65 we moved to Old Bridge. The

only way I could imagine to say Newark is not so bad would be to live near

the projects in Jersey City.

Retraction. One four letter word there was entered in windings and did not

translate as such. My apologies.

Personally, I had to agree with it as originally written!

It is a small world.

Can¹t say as I recall the Orchards. It was 68 when I left Jersey. I recall

Englishtown Raceway, Spotswood Auctions, Seaside Heights,

and fun in New Brunswick (Rutgers). I moved to the Lehigh Valley in PA after

service in Œ72. Moved to Texas in Œ81. Been here since.

I remember the Spotswood auctions and the Englishtown Raceway. They also had

a raceway in Freehold, Bruce Springsteens home town. (Yes I've met him many

times but I'm sure he would never know me now. We left in 71, after my

dad's company transferred him to an operation in Shreveport. I go back every

chance I get, mom and dad are getting on in years, and really do like the place.

It's a great visit, but I don't know if I would live there again. Taxes are

out of control, toll roads and other fees have gone up considerabley, and it is

CROWDED. Although I love New York and it's 13-15 million daily population

with all the commuters as well as residents.

Bruce and his mother moved to Asbury Park after he graduated high school.

She still lives there on E Street, hence the name of the band. His band was the

Castilles when I saw them at the Red Bank Coffee House every Friday and

Saturday night.

I never did get to go to the race track, I was too young then.

Memories. I thought Bruce was from Asbury Park. Just North of me was where

Jon Bon Jovi grew up in Sayerville.

I used to work at Monmouth Park Race Track when I was in High School.

I like to say I was a mechanic there. ( I fixed races) I was an exerciser

for the horses.
