Guest guest
Mara Looks like sodium metabisulfite is used as a food preservative, but can also be used in other things. Seems scary to me -- I wouldn't swallow anything that contains it. I couldn't find out whether it's a polysaccharide, but it has a number of recognized health hazards associated with it -- immunotoxicant, kidney toxicant, respiratory toxicant, and skin/sense organ toxicant. Here's a link to one of the sites that discusses it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodium_metabisulfite Kim M. From Wikipedia, " As an additive, it may cause allergic reactions, particularly skin irritation, gastric irritation and asthma. It is not recommended for consumption by children. " Doesn't sound like a good thing. mom to -12, SCD 4/23/04 Pecanbread Moderator
