Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group. In the files section under " Repo headquarters " , there are several tips on repositioning, there maybe something in there to help you. Where are you located? Are you considering a band or helmet? Please feel free to ask all the questions you want. If I can't answer something, I know there will be someone here that can :-) , mom to Makenna, LLUMC helmet grad '03. --- In Plagiocephaly , " saren1234 " <jturner@p...> wrote: > I DO NOT THINK MY SONS PLAGIO IS SEVERE. Guest guest
If you want to continue repositioning then you must become very aggresive. Keep your son off the back of his head as much as possible. Limit his time in car seats, swings, bouncy chairs, etc. Check out in the files section, the repositioning folder for other ideas. Guest guest
Hi .. I have been repositioning my daughter for about 4 months now. She was 3 months old when I started. If you look in her folder PHOTOS/OUR PLAGIO KIDS/SARAH S. I have posted some pictures of the things I do to reposition her. I also have progress photos of ’s head in the PHOTOS/BEFORE AND AFTER/REPOSITIONED folder. As soon as she could hold her head steady I got rid of the bouncy chair and put her in a walker/exersaucer. Your son is at a good age for a ny Jump-Up too. The company recommends the product for ages 4 mo to walking. Also, if he keeps flipping onto his back in his sleep, you may just have to forego a good night’s sleep for a while and keep checking on him. I know it’s tough but if you are REALLY diligent, you can have good results. And we are all here to support you and answer your questions. Guest guest
Hi , I apologize for responding so late to your post. Welcome to the group! We currently have a number of parents repositioning their babies. Usually it's nearly impossible to repo a baby who has tort, because the babies don't have that complete head/neck range of motion to stay off of the flat area. Usually the tort needs to be resolved before repo starts to deliver results. Besides your issue with your son's sleep position, how is daytime repo going? Have you been able to keep him off of his flat area during the entire day? If you have been repo'ing a month (starting when your son was 4 months old) you should have seen some measureable improvement so far. Would you say you have seen some rounding? I usually recommend taking top and side view progress photos every 2 weeks to objectively document whether repo progress is happening or not. Usually about your son's age, they start wriggling right out of the wedge. Some ideas for positioning during sleep include sewing a wedge or bag of rice to the back of a snug-fitting vest over the baby's pjs, in an attempt to tip the baby up a bit and encourage them off of the flat area. Other parents just have a nightly battle and check on their baby several times a night to repo them off of the flat spot. Nighttime repo can be so frustrating, but it's critical to repo success. I was lucky, my daughter Remy started sleeping on her sides all on her own right at about 5 months of age, so it was a huge help with repo. We used repo-only and did not use a helmet or band, but Remy did not have any tort or facial/ear/forehead asymmetries. Her progress photos, if you would like to see them, are in the PHOTOS/BEFORE AND AFTER/REPOSITIONED folder. Were you able to keep your son on his side for nighttime repo when the wedges worked for him? There are a ton of repo products in the LINKS/REPO AND TUMMYTIME folder that may spark some homemade ideas of your own. Check out the LINKS/REPO AND TUMMY TIME/PERSONAL REPO WEBSITES to see if anyone has any other nighttime repo ideas. Our own group members added photos of their repo ideas in the FILES/REPO HEADQUARTERS folder (most are for daytime, though.) As I mentioned before, the tort generally undermines repo efforts, but I would love to hear a repo success story with tort, so please keep us posted if it is working for your son!
