Remember, our bodies heal 10 times faster than asleep then awake... so if

you can take extra little cat naps between the packing it will help the

cold get over a bit sooner and give you some more energy while you're

working....

Keep your fluid intake up, preferably water... so that your body can do

the sneezing, coughing and draining that it needs to do to the get sick

out...

Bit of trivia... did you know that the extra mucous and all the coughing

and sneezing is your body trapping the germs and expelling them from your

body? It spreads those germs to others to.. but the more that you can get

out of yourself.. the less 'sick' your body has to fight.

You got it... I should have mentioned another thing my mom taught me and

it does do a lot to help.. wear a hat... we lose more body heat out of

the top of our heads than anywhere else on our bodies.... when your body

is having a hard time getting fever up wearing a hat reduces heat loss

and helps your temp get up higher, for those of us that are thermically

challenged. *wink*

For all the years that I had insomnia I did pseudo sleeps when I was

sick.. that is until I got too hypo to be sick... anyway.. I'd get all

comfy and settled in in bed just as if to sleep. Closed eyes.. the whole

nine yards and then did the daydreaming thing.... it's not as good as

sleep but it does help the body get more fighting done.. as in fighting

the bugs....

Gosh.. some of the weird stuff that I've done over the years just trying

to keep on going..... *shakes head in wonderment*

Janet,

Personally, I don't worry about a fever, in me, until it hit's 101... I

stay bundled up, where my hat and socks to keep heat in. Food and drink

is hot or no colder than room temp, to keep internal temp from

dropping.... and just let it cook. I still feel crappy. It doesn't make

everything go away.. but I sure seem to get over the bugs quicker letting

my body do to the battle.

Gosh.. you've reminded me of how angry I used to get at coworkers that

were always popping cold pills and always sick... I'd get grief over my

hand washing... But it's the best way to not infect you with the germs

that they are spreading!

That was when I was on enough med to still be able to catch a cold. It's

funny. When I was hyper I didn't get sick EVER I went like 8 years

without so much as a sniffle. My body was pumping too much heat, the bugs

couldn't survive. Then, during periods of time when I was VERY hypo, my

body temp was too low for the bugs to survive.... That's why I was so

happy when I came down with my first cold after getting on Naturals.. I

was finally getting well enough to have a body temp high enough for the

bugs to survive! The sucky part was that I couldn't produce enough heat

yet to cook them out... I was sick for over a month... but I got over it.

Oh.. that reminds me... after my RAI my endo sat me down with a lecture.

For all the years that I way hyper, with the body heat pump thing going

on, I was not 'exposed' to a lot of the germs that were out... so she

said that as my body slowed and went hypo and then I got on meds and came

back up to normal, that I'd be vulnerable to a LOT of bugs that my body

had not developed anti-bodies for... so I should plan on getting sick a

LOT and that I shouldn't be taking anything for it... that I needed to

let my body develop defenses for the bugs that it had not been exposed

to... The first couple of years were horrid... but I do believe that she

was right. I went through that 'exposure' stage and then was a LOT LESS

susceptible to the bugs every one else was getting. One other thing she

told me, and she was right. To stay away from folks getting a flu shot

and to never get one myself.... In all the years that they've been giving

flu shots and I've been within touching distance of someone that got one

for the first three days after... I always get the flu. If I know they've

gotten the shot and stay away from them that first three days, I don't

get sick.

I've gotten into arguments from folks about that.... The last time it

happened... my dad

'forgot' to tell me he was getting his shot. He was having trouble with

the puter and asked me to come out and help. I was sitting in the chair

and typing at the keyboard, and came down with it.... His comment...

maybe you should have gotten the shot! Yeah... I never leave the house..

Hadn't seen anyone for a couple of weeks. The only person that I'd been

near was him... and the only contact we had was via the chair and

keyboard..... Now, were did I get exposed????? If he'd told me he'd

gotten the shot I would have carefully washed my hands after......

Arrrgghhhhh

My mommy and her home remedies... and my endo and her insight... they

would both be proud to find that I learned their lessons so well.....
