Guest guest
Hi ! Does your daughter have brachy (flat all across the back of the head) or plagio (flat on one side of the back of the head)? I may have missed it in a previous post, but how old is Paige again??? There are some pretty painless ways to repo while in a bouncer. One idea a mom in this group had was to place a piece of foam right behind her baby's neck while in the bouncer, which suspended the back of the baby's head completely off of the bouncie seat back. She provided instructions and a photo of this idea in the files/repo headquarters/repo photos folder - you should take a look and see if this might work for the daytime! Another way is to place a rolled up towel next to your baby's head to tip it over off of the flat area (if she has plagio.) I have also heard of other parents using the noggin nest in the bouncie, or placing a square of memory foam behind their babies' head while in the bouncie. I wouldn't recommend the bouncer for the extended naptime or nighttime use. Even if you prop your daughter's head over to the side up off of the flat area (if it's plagio), then you run the risk of flattening the non-flat side, and increasing the head height of that side as well, because Paige will be spending a long time in it. I have heard of two instances of this happening. If she has brachy, you run the very real risk of increasing her head width a little more, which once the width is established, the band cannot correct or " narrow " it. I can't recommend the swing at all, because the nature of the centrifugal force means that the head is being pulled down into the flat shape of the seatback. If you do decide to use the swing here and there, try some memory foam in between the seat back and material covering the seat to help soften the surface! Definitely use a rolled up towel to prop her head over off of the flat area if she has plagio, while you use the swing. It's really up to you as far as using the bouncie and swing, so I hope these ideas will help if you continue to use them. I don't think you need to go overboard, since it is 4 weeks, but a couple of adjustments might go a long way to preventing any further flattening, meaning less work and less time in the band! Good luck, and I hope some of these ideas work out without too much trouble. Guest guest
Hi , I'm also in that hurry up and wait stage...trying to do everything I can to keep Zander off his head. He's been sleeping on his side in positioners at night and on his tummy in the daytime. I try my best to keep him out of the swing, carseat, etc., but put a rolled towel behind the worse side of his head when he has to be in it. He spends a lot of time on his tummy and in his jumperoo. I saw the Noggin Nest too and will probably order one tonight. They look like they would help more than nothing at all. I hope you get some more suggestions. I'm looking for any little thing that would help. Good luck to you! Guest guest
Once we were told that Lucia had plagio and we were asked to reposition her (failed, of course, since now she is wearing a band), we eliminated completely (I mean, 100% off) swing, bouncy seat, and stroller. We bought an exersaucer and we took her for walks in her baby bjorg only. The swing and bouncer have been off ever since and are soon to see the light of e-bay. The stroller we have resumed after she started wearing the band (and since her weight starts being too much for my little frame....). One month will go fast and soon you will have the band and your daughter can enjoy her bouncer again. Meanwhile, try an exersaucer or those bouncy seats that hang from the door (I can't remember the name of them, but I know babies love them). Hang in there and be ready to carry her a lot.......
