Guest guest
You're not the only one that passes this stuff off to old age, long hours or kids.... Just infuriates me thinking of how much LIFE has been lost to the misery that we've all faced! Guest guest
You just nailed me.... and all the years that I was involved in public relations and customer service situations that can be a B**** to deal with! My mask is to be really up beat about saying Hi, are ya doin'! and so by pass the need to use a name... That doesn't always work though. I got a call from a client (I'm a computer geek) we were discussing a problem with her computer and all of a sudden I realized that the person that I was talking with was not the one that I thought I was talking with.... it was her twin sister! So.... having this real fear of calling someone by the wrong name I didn't verify which sister it was and assumed that the number that had been entered in the pager (clients contact me via pager) was the number of the sister that I was talking to..... In reality it was the other twin visiting..... So now I'm a gazillion times more paranoid about who I'm talking to on the phone. Some of the folks that I talk to often, tease me cause I always seem to come up with a statement or question early in the conversation so that I know who I'm talking to... I've only told one friend exactly why I do it.. the others I fib to, if they make comment.. that I'm practicing my professional phone etiquette in verifying the identity of the caller and chuckle as I tell them they caught me, I need to polish it better! Guest guest
Well Thank the Lord that Iam not alone. My phrase when I am talking to friends is Oh, you know , whats her name or what's his name that that did whatever the subject is. And books, I can remember the content and quote it but most of the time I can't remember the author. I myself thought that I was slipping into something that I really didn't want to think about. > You just nailed me.... and all the years that I was involved in public > relations and customer service situations that can be a B**** to deal > with! Guest guest
Same here, but I don't panic, I just laugh it off or say, " I'm so sorry, I'm terrible with names. " Blessigns, Debbie K. Re: Staying away from social gatherings etc... Here's another one...does anyone have this problem...I'm afraid to call people by name because I'm afraid of screwing up and calling them by the wrong name, which I've done quite a bit. So instead of saying " Hi so and so " , I'll just say " Hi " . And if I have to introduce people to each other... oh my God! I panic. Guest guest
....I have the same feelings in a social situation......reading what you said was like reading my own life. I try to remember amusing things I've heard..but when I go to repeat them...I forget! Maybe that is why we navigate to the computer. Oh...and I was a brownie....in calif. but don't remember the oath. Blessings, Loriann > Are you Canadian? I don't think there are Brownies in the States are > there? How about: on my honour I must try. There's a duty to be done > and I say I.
