Guest guest
I moved from NY where I was getting great services to just outside Charlotte in Cabarrus county where the services and schools are awful. Their goal is to try to provide the least amt. of services possible. My daughter was suspended from school after they continally allowed her to eat GFCF foods and her behavior went south. I refused to keep picking her up so they suspended her. I pulled her out and have been on a waiting list for services for 4 yrs. she is 23. Hope to move back to NY in future. Charlotte is Mecklenburg county. Garr Christian Academy is a private school in Charlotte that does verbal aba and is supposed to be good. There is also a center based school called the Metro school. Call the ASA in Charlotte. I heard good things about Rowan county from a parent but that could be just that particular school. This is just my experience. I don't know where you're coming from or where your child is on the spectrum, so your perspective may be different than mine. But I would definitely avoid Cabarrus county. Sorry to sound so negative but I wouldn't want you to go thru what we did. Good luck. charlotte north carolina area services Is anyone familiar with Charlotte North Carolina services? We may be relocating there and I am looking for any information on what are the best school districts and private schools for children on the spectrum in the area. Any info would be so much appreciated. Thanks!!
Guest guest
We're north of charlotte, iredell county - horrible schools, services, lack of help, programs, etc. Son was born here, diagnosed at 28 months and it has been a constant fight/battle with no victories - we're originally from PA - great programs there - NC likely the worst in the country > > Is anyone familiar with Charlotte North Carolina services? Guest guest
I live in the South Charlotte area. We moved here 2 years ago from Michigan. I do know, for sure, that if you live where I do, which is Union County, the public schools here are awesome and people move here for that reason. This is compared to Mecklenberg County which is extremely large and from what I know, there are only pockets of good schools. Now, I don't know what the public school services are like, but I can tell you, depending on exactly how functioning your child is, you have to fight for your child no matter what public school your in, no matter how good. I say things from experience.I know for the majority, private schools/services may not be an option. Fortunately, we have been blessed to have this option. If you'd like, you can email me directly to my personal email I can fill you in on what we've done/experienced so far. My son is almost 10 and has PDD-NOS, anxiety and flat out doesn't like school. He, however, is extremely smart/off the charts, but in school he has had years of aggression and just refuses to want to do things. He's gotten much better, but it's been a battle for years. We've done different programs and I can tell you about where we are at now, if private is an option. Please feel free to email me and I'll be happy to help you.Lynn in Charlotte Lynn StevanovskiSent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerrySender: mb12 valtrex Date: Fri, 09 Jul 2010 09:23:17 -0000To: <mb12 valtrex >ReplyTo: mb12 valtrex Subject: Re: charlotte north carolina area services We're north of charlotte, iredell county - horrible schools, services, lack of help, programs, etc. Son was born here, diagnosed at 28 months and it has been a constant fight/battle with no victories - we're originally from PA - great programs there - NC likely the worst in the country>> Is anyone familiar with Charlotte North Carolina services?
