Guest guest
Amy: How did they dx your Dad? What tests do they do for that? Please me know what the doc does/says on Monday. The great thing is now we have the Internet and all the information is at our fingertips. What an amazing thing, huh? ALL: I am feeling better. Some days are still bad days but this new life of mine is agreeing with me! This morning I went out and watered the tomatoes, strawberries, pumpkins, pickling cucumbers, Armenian cucumbers, morning glories, sunflowers, sweet peas..... and whatever I've forgotten. LOL Then I hung out two loads of laundry with the help of the three oldest grand kids here (ages 10, 12, 13). Usually the 5 year old gathers any clothespins that fall but her cousins are here visiting. The company is Challis' two girls ages 4 and 8. Challis' girls have been here with us since last Sunday. They don't seem inclined to go home anytime soon either The point of the paragraph above was not only did I do all of that but I did it without my cane! I NEVER can walk outside without my cane so it was a real treat for me. As much as I enjoyed it I know that I could need the cane or more tomorrow. Such are the ways of MS. The weather is hot again today, as it was yesterday. It was in the 90s but I'm not sure what it was for sure. It's 115 in some parts of the Phoenix Valley of the Sun so that means heat for us here in the mountains. It's the "trickle UP theory". I got some really bad news today from my neuro who happens to be my dad's doctor too. My dad has been having these problems for a while with balance and muscles twitching. So he was referred to my neuro by his general doctor and she's sent him for an MRI and other tests. Well, I had an appointment with her today and I knew if I needled her enough she would tell me what was wrong with my dad. I've had this doctor for 4 years and we are very open with each other so don't take this as she's speaking out of turn. My dad and my family do not feel angry at her for what she told me today. But my dad has Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis aka Lou Gehrig's Disease. She gives him 5 to 6 years. My poor mom, who just found out her sister is dying now has to deal with this too. It's just so awful and menacing. My MS became rvery small when she told me this. I feel so bad. I'm sorry to burden everyone but we sure could use some prayers. We need all the good thoughts we can get. Amy Get fantasy football with free live scoring. Sign up for FanHouse Fantasy Football today. Get fantasy football with free live scoring. Guest guest
Sharon, Well, she did a full neurological exam in which she noticed his right leg was significantly smaller and weaker than his left. Also, she could see muscle twitches in his throat which has been causing slurred speech etc. And she also saw muscle twitches in his arms and legs. So she sent him for an MRI, an EEG, a nerve conduction test, and an EMG I think. I'm strung out on initial tests myself, hmmf! Anyway I will certainly tell you what happens Monday. My dad has been gathering papers for a handicap tag, disability papers and such so she can start writing off on what he needs after official diagnosis. I hope at least that goes smoothly.
