Hello Zina!!

I had my total thyroidectomy almost two months ago.

1. Do you think you are better without your thyroid?

I would have to say that I am better without mine, since mine was so

diseased. The lack of worry alone makes it better.

2. Why did you have your thyroid taken out?

I had a lithium induced, multi~nodule goiter and a 3cm. tumor on left

lobe.

3. Do you feel better on T4 alone (synthroid) or do you feel better

on T3/T4 (Armour)?

I felt awful on Synthroid alone. I could barely move, the lethargy was so

bad. Terrible blurred vision in the mornings, aches and pains etc...awful! I

have just started on Armour yesterday! Just the hope of feelings better

sustains me right now. I will keep everyone posted on my progress. I am so

very excited!

4. Before you had your thyroid taken out, did your TSH go up and then

go down, Erratically?

No, mine did not fluctuate that erratically. Mostly stayed at the same

level, but enough to warrant concern.

My suggestion would be to exhaust every possibility, and to try Armour

along with other natural supports, before even considering having a major

gland removed. Once it is out, it is out! No going back. I feel very blessed

that I have found a doc who will listen to me, and I didn't have to go more

than a few months of this " existing " The surgery was nothing compare to what

I felt afterward on T4 alone.

I'm just curious, because I have a group and a gal there is going to

have her thyroid taken out because she has been having none stop

troubles for years with her thyroid. Her TSH goes up, and then it

goes down--very erratic. She, of course, is taking Synthroid, which

is a big problem, I think, for her. She thinks she has Hashi's and

Grave's. Just fishing for some helpful advice that I can share with

Thanks so much for your input! I just don't know how to relate to

this gal, since I still have my thyroid. I also do not have Hashi's

or Grave's, so I just don't know how to help her. Do you mind if I

share what you've said here with her? I'm sooooo excited that

you are finally on Armour. I think you will see some wonderful

changes!
