Guest guest
Hi everyone, Can my 3 year old live off of meat, carrots, some peas, cranberries pears and supps alone???? This is all he is eating, and it's been for a while. I'm starting to get worried. He has been SCD for 3 months now and stools are mostly soft to runny. I would say 1 out of 10 is ok to normal. No behavior change. Thanks, Jen
Guest guest
Hi Jen, Has there been any change in stools? How were they before SCD? A few more details please How are the carrots prepared? Do the peas have the skins on? Are the cranberries, cooked, put through a seive etc.? Are the pears peeled, and cooked? Did you start with the intro diet and gradually add foods? What supplements? What meats & how prepared? Does your child have any diagnosis? Any other details you can think of will also help to formulate an answer. Guest guest
Hi Jen, My daughter (3 y.o.) lives off of pears, bananas, chicken, eggs and mommy milk (I do SCD as well), and has for the seven weeks we've been on the diet. I frankly think this is better than the very limited mac and cheese, over-sugared kids' yogurt, pizza and French toast she lived on pre-diet. Just a thought: cranberries are VERY high in phenols. Two of them in a muffin I made a while ago sent le into a hyper frenzy that lasted three days. We also get some GI symptoms from phenols (gas mostly). Have you considered pulling the cranberries? I know it's tough to pull something else when your child is already on a really limited diet, but ... if your child reacts to phenols, it might help. J.C.
